Congratulations to our entire school community on an incredible Month of Service Learning! All students (K-4) contributed to our efforts in supporting Cradles to Crayons by donating clothes, sorting clothes and making well-wish cards! Students in 2-4th grade traveled to the C2C site downtown and helped sort loads of clothes, shoes, books and more. Students in K & 1st grade created school supply kits donated by the PTO. It was a magical month of not only learning about helping others while maintaining their dignity, but also taking action!
A very special thank you to Jessalyn Garvey who orchestrated the month of activities in conjunction with a team of teachers and staff members.
Coming up...we will be World Travelers to the Netherlands, Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week and more! Read below for more details.

Victims of the earthquakes in Turkey desperately need the following items: sleeping bags, tents, mats (camping), hand sanitizers, diapers, baby formula/food, hand warmers, batteries, feminine care items (e.g. pads), adult diapers, baby wipes, and sanitizing wipes. If you can donate, collection boxes will be in the HW school lobby until February 22.

Green Team Tips
- Stickers/labels are not generally compostable because of the adhesive on them. Remove stickers from all fruit, bags, and other before composting. Or recycle paper bags with stickers.
- The realm of hard plastics that is recyclable is MUCH narrower than we used to think. Focus on recycling BOTTLES, JARS, JUGS, and TUBS. Most other hard plastics, like utensils, straws, sushi boxes, fruit/sandwich clamshells, etc. are not recyclable.
- When in doubt, throw it out! Don’t wishcycle or try to compost anything that is not organic. If you’re not sure where something goes, play it safe, put it in landfill and ask our Green team!
