News and Notes
Looking Ahead
Principal Appreciation Week is October 16-22!

Please join the PTO in celebrating MRS. CARMODY! We are grateful for Principal Carmody's commitment and dedication to our school community. She puts our children and the HW Staff at the forefront of every decision and works hard to create a happy, safe and loving school environment. Let's show her our appreciation!

There will be a decorated box in the school's front lobby all week to drop notes, pictures, etc. from you and your children. Students can bring anything with them to school and place it in the box and/or you are welcome to drop off anything during school hours. Or perhaps you'd like to send an email (bethcarmody@winnetka36.org) to show your gratitude. Thank you for showing Principal Carmody your appreciation, in any form, this week!
It's Almost Time to Explore with World Travelers!

Get ready to have some fun learning about South Korea with the Chung family! The World Travelers program is a special Hubbard Woods tradition, which has taken on various forms over time. Our first World Travelers experience will be the week of October 24. World Travelers programming will take place during school hours and sign ups are not required for participation. Stay tuned for more details on our first "trip" to South Korea!

As part of Winnetka Public Schools' ongoing anti-bullying efforts and in observance of National Bullying Prevention Month, students and staff of Hubbard Woods School will engage in shared experiences around themes of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Check out the flyer here. Each day, we encourage your child to partake in our district-wide Unity Spirit Week:

October 17 - Meet and Greet Monday: Wear your Hubbard Woods spirit wear or colors (turquoise and white)
October 18 - Peace, Love and Tie Dye Tuesday: Celebrate peace, love, and unity and show off some tie dye or peace inspired clothing!
October 19 - Wear Orange Wednesday: Wear orange in solidarity with National Unity Day.
October 20 - Be an Upstander Thursday: Dress in your pajamas and put bullying to bed!
October 21 - Fan Friday: Rep your favorite sports team jersey, apparel or uniform to show we are a team.
Are You a New Hubbard Woods School Family?

Please join us for a New Family coffee on Friday, October 21 from 8:30AM-10:00AM in Mann Park. We will have time to chat casually and ask a School Board member any questions you may have about the upcoming Referendum. If you have not been paired with a Buddy Family, please reach out to hubbardwoodspto@gmail.com.
Hubbard Woods Book Fair Coming Soon!

The Hubbard Woods Book Fair will be held  November 16-17. It's a wonderful opportunity to purchase books and gifts to raise money for our Resource Center. Last year's Book Fair proceeds were used to purchase many new non-fiction books for the RC.

In conjunction with the Book Fair, we are also holding a Bernie's Book Drive from November 7-18. Make room for new books by donating no longer needed picture books, board books, recent non-fiction and chapter books for ages birth through 6th grade. See the flyer for more info!

Stay tuned for more details!
Directory Spot is updated and available now!
