Overview of the "5 Step Prayer Process"
.
THE INTERVIEW
...
Introduce yourself ask, and ask, "How can I pray for you?” This is not a medical interview, but rather an opportunity to listen as we assess the person’s need.
THE DIAGNOSIS
...
Then we seek to identify whether or not there may be underlying issue(s) impacting their condition. The resource will explain this step more thoroughly.
PRAYER SELECTION
..
Given the situation, we offer different prayer styles of intercession and spiritual warfare that are specific to the need.
PRAYER ENGAGEMENT
.
Based on the three previous steps, we pray for the need while listening to the Holy Spirit, who may give us and the person greater insight and understanding. As well, it is important to have a Bible ready as the Spirit often prompts us to review Scriptures that give us further direction, insight, understanding, and encouragement.
POST-PRAYER DIRECTION
..
This might include encouragement to receive further prayer or pastoral counseling. Every situation is an opportunity for us to be reminded that we all need to nurture a deeper relationship with God, stay in the Scriptures, remain in fellowship, and to turn away from sin. If they believe that healing occurred, we urge them to get confirmation from a medical professional before medication and treatment is discontinued.
