Preparing Women for Leadership and Board Positions
NEWSLETTER
OCTOBER 2019
LeadWomen's upcoming It'sNotOK?! conference will address the cultural shift necessary to combat workplace harassment in corporate Malaysia. Workplace harassment can lead to financial and reputational damage, and a demoralised workforce.
While some of us may have experience with workplace harassment, it is highly likely that each of us has once been an implicit bystander or witness to harassment.
As The Balance's illustration shows, workplace harassment is extremely nuanced yet pervasive. Emtrain, our expert collaborator on the conference, captures some of the complexities of navigating workplace harassment in their thought provoking videos (click on the icons below to watch!):
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE BYSTANDER?
Bystanders play a critical role in addressing workplace harassment. Direct intervention and offering after-the-fact support signals to the harasser and the harassed that # ItsNotOK.
We can all do our part to create harassment-free workspaces and normalise  #SpeakingUp against workplace harassment.
THE DATA GAP
There is a lack of data surrounding workplace harassment in corporate Malaysia. Watch LeadWomen Consultant, Maha Balakrishnan, and Director of Ipsos Malaysia, Nik Tasha, talk about why they think this is so on TV3's Malaysia Hari Ini. Help address the data gap by taking the LeadWomen workplace harassment survey.
Women in Leadership 2020 and It'sNotOK?! Conference
Women in Leadership
LeadWomen's pioneer Women in Leadership (WIL) programme facilitates the national drive to increase female participation in senior decision-making positions. A unique combination of workshops, knowledge sharing, and coaching helps female leaders push the boundaries of their comfort zones and emerge as change agents within their organisations.
Women in Leadership 2019 Graduation
On 24th September 2019, we celebrated the graduation of the 2019 WIL cohort at a ceremony in the Norwegian Ambassador's Residence, as they set out to actualise their full leadership potential and become change agents for diversity in workplaces.
