IvyNotes: February 10th
  Director's Note
Many of our students have been busy preparing for Valentine's Day with our SGA Candy Grams and School to Work Valentine's Gift Set. We are happy to share more details below.

Please join me in congratulating our PHS School to Work students on the development of their third business, Ivy Scents. They are excited to offer a variety of handcrafted room sprays made with essential oils.

A reminder that this week is your last chance to turn in Box Tops. Your participation in the collection of Box Tops is a great way to support the Ivymount School PTA.

Make sure to review the upcoming dates and events below. We have lots of exciting events coming up for families.

Enjoy your week,
Susan Holt

The PTA is Getting Ready for Teacher Appreciation Week!

Teacher Appreciation Week (TAW) is  May 6th-10th.  This year, instead of each class being responsible for doing it's own events, the Ivymount PTA is going to host multiple school-wide events, in addition to the traditional Staff Appreciation Luncheon  on Wednesday, May 8th.  If you have contacts at grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, chefs, massage therapists, etc. and are willing to ask them to donate items, gift cards or services for TAW, please email PTA Vice President of Teacher Appreciation Merrill Spiegel at  [email protected] . We will be happy to acknowledge businesses that donate.

If you are interested in helping plan the TAW events, our next TAW Committee Meeting will be held  on Wednesday, February 27th from 9:15 to 10 a.m.  in the Ivymount conference room. If you are unable to attend the meeting in person, but would like to participate by phone, please email [email protected] for the number.

Inclement Weather Policy

Ivymount School follows the inclement weather policy of Montgomery County Public Schools. When MCPS closes school due to inclement weather, Ivymount School is closed.

When MCPS has a late opening, Ivymount School has a late opening.

If MCPS has an early closing due to inclement weather, Ivymount will also close early and we will notify parents/guardians to make sure that someone is available at home to meet the student.

If MCPS has a late opening on a Wednesday, Ivymount School will have a full day program and dismiss students at 3:15 p.m.

Please note that some school jurisdictions have their own policy for providing transportation on inclement weather days (e.g., Prince George's County Public Schools will not transport students if there is a delayed opening on Wednesdays). Ivymount and/or the school system will notify parents/guardians when alternate transportation arrangements occur.

We will post announcements about school closings, delayed openings, or early dismissals due to winter weather emergencies through a Constant Contact email (like this one). If you have registered for our Ivymount text emergency alerts, you will also receive a text.
