Volunteer Appreciation- Save the Date!

Thank you to our 393 volunteers for the 2017-2018 school year! To show our appreciation, we will be hosting a volunteer luncheon on August 8, 2018. Please be on the lookout for an email invitation later this month. If you are one of the amazing individuals who volunteered this year, please see your name listed  here.

Did we miss you? Questions or comments about volunteering? Email us! Candice at  chodge@jaspacecoast.org or Desiree  dkaul@jaspacecoast.org

Mary Williams

How many years have you been a JA volunteer?
I have been a JA volunteer over the past 3-4 years (but I led JA many years ago...just can't remember those dates).
What is your favorite grade/JA program?
My favorite grade to teach JA to is whatever grade I have at the time! I am comfortable with all elementary age students, but truly, I like any student that is receptive, especially to my style of instructing.
Why did you choose JA?
I chose JA because I believe in their message and mission, the materials are very well written and offer applicable options, my husband and son have been involved in JA, so it's a family thing, and finally,  I trust our Spacecoast JA staff. They are hard-working and efficient.
Where do you work?
I work from home - writing and illustrating children's books. Formerly, I was a professional children's entertainer and children's ministry director.
Do you volunteer for any other organizations?
I volunteer for Rolling Readers, Brevard Schools Foundation and The Morgan Project golf committee.
Do you have any hobbies?
My hobbies are drawing, golf, crafts, reading, and walking/exercising. (Is socializing a "hobby"?! How 'bout housework?! LOL!)
What area of Brevard are you from?
I live in South Cocoa Beach. My husband and I also own a farm in Georgia that keeps us very busy.

Volunteers Have More Power This Fall

This summer, JA of the Space Coast is converting our volunteer and program management databases. What does that mean for you? You'll be able to:
  • Register for an account & update contact information
  • View open classrooms on an interactive map
  • View teacher and classroom statistics
  • Sign up for open classes in real time
  • Request a class for a teacher that might want more information about JA
More information will come in August during our Welcome to Fall newsletter.

Thank you to our Hosts, Gold, and Silver Sponsors for  the June 7, 2018 event!
