Hi ! As November's Financial Literacy Month wraps up, we here at JABC want to share with you what we've been up to lately- thanks to your support.
FEATURED STORY
Check out our great new video: Making a budget !
What exactly is a Want, a Need or a Goal?
To help teach teens about budgeting, we recently teamed up with Coast Capital Savings to create an interactive new video called Making a Budget. This collaboration is now part of our popular JA Dollars with Sense program and also acts as a fantastic standalone resource for educators, students and parents alike!

New Inductees into the
BLBC Hall of Fame
Congratulations to these individuals who will be inducted into the BLBC Hall of Fame at the 15th annual Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremonies this May: Gordon Robert Diamond, Chief Clarence Joseph Louie, and Arran & Ratana Stephens. In celebration of the Hall of Fame's 15th anniversary, ten posthumous Laureates will also be inducted!

Be Entrepreneurial Helps Develop Business Leaders
Meet Samantha and Danica from Kamloops, B.C., winners of their school’s  Be Entrepreneurial  business pitch competition and finalists for the Community Futures Thompson Country’s Junior Dragons Den competition. Their business idea? A patch, instead of a needle, to deliver medication painlessly. How cool is that?

Volunteers in High Demand
School will soon be winding down for winter break, so now is the perfect time to select your volunteer opportunity for the New Year! View our JA programs and the areas across B.C. with the highest demand for volunteers.

Our Annual Report is Ready
Packed with some great stories and images from this past year, our 2018-19 Annual Report highlights how we're on track to meet our Strategic Plan goal of increasing our programming by 50% by 2023. Check it out!

CAPSTONE EXPERIENCES
JABC TechWorks: Victoria, Vancouver and (now!) Kelowna
This year we are very excited to be expanding JABC Techworks to Kelowna! This multi-school gathering that gives students in grades nine and ten a snapshot of tech-related careers, will now be in Victoria, Vancouver and Kelowna. A big thank you to our partners across the province who are helping us deliver this capstone program.
Discover Your Pitch: A student investor pitch competition
Last spring we hosted our inaugural Discover Your Pitch competition in Vancouver. Vying for cash prizes, top student teams from JA entrepreneurial programs pitched a business idea to a panel of local judges. With so much positive feedback, we plan to grow this program to other areas across British Columbia soon.
President & CEO's Update
If you're like me, you're not surprised to learn from a 2019 survey that many adults struggle with debt and 94% of Canadians believe schools should be focusing more on teaching financial literacy to students.

Luckily so many B.C. educators and schools recognize the importance of financial literacy. Kids need to know about budgeting, goal setting and spending wisely early in life to set them up for success.

This Financial Literacy Month, I want to give a shout out to all our supporters- from donors to educators to volunteers- who empower and equip youth with the knowledge, skills and confidence to build a more financially secure future for themselves. You are awesome- thank you.
We are always looking to improve the information we share with you. Please provide any feedback to news@jabc.org .
A hearty thank you from the JABC team.
