Board of Directors is Essential to JAG-K Success

Essential to the mission of JAG-K is its board of directors. The 24 members of the board come from an array of career fields and areas of expertise. We tap their diverse skills, experience, and connections and rely upon them for direction and support.

(Read below the news release about the board)

Serving on the JAG-K Board of Directors requires time and energy. We appreciate the dedication of those who step up to help shape the future workforce of Kansas.

As they cycle off the board, we especially want to thank Dr. Tiffany Anderson and Sen. Rick Billinger for their service.

We welcome the following to the board:

·     Larry Alley, Kansas State Senator

·     Anna Backman, Regional VP of Human Resources, HCA Healthcare

·     Derek Bailey, Senior Commercial Lender, First Interstate Bank

·     Michael Marquart, Labor Relations Manager, John Deere

·     Anna Stubblefield, Superintendent, Kansas City Kansas Public Schools

Thanks to everyone who works hard to make JAG-K successful, whatever their role.

I&I Events Install Leaders, Celebrate the Impact of JAG-K in Communities

JAG-K Programs across the state are holding Initiation and Installation ceremonies in the fall. These events (often referred to as I&I ceremonies) officially put into office the new JAG-K Career Association Officers and recognize them publicly for their acceptance of these important roles.

The ceremonies require that the new officers speak to adults, as well as their peers, about what JAG-K means to them and their school. They discuss what they hope to accomplish in the school year. And they cast a vision for other students in the program. Frequently the ceremonies also feature former students who discuss what the program meant to them.

"I&I is a big event in the school year," said Basehor-Linwood Career Specialist Brandon Duff (whose recent I&I ceremony is pictured above). "Along with the elected officers being initiated, all of the members of the JAG-K program are officially installed into the career association. The event allows parents, teachers and administration not only to celebrate with our students, but to get a better understanding of the JAG-K program."
