JAG-K Staff Celebrate Accomplishments, Prepare for New School Year

Due to the tremendous dedication of career specialists and the hard work of students across the state, JAG-K recently received the 5 of 5 Award from the national organization. This is the eighth consecutive year that Kansas was won this honor.

Additionally, 27 Jobs for America’s Graduates-Kansas (JAG-K) school-based programs earned the prestigious 5 of 5 Award for 2021. Each of Kansas’ four regions achieved the 5 of 5 Award standard on a regional basis.

The 5 of 5 Award represents success for thousands of JAG-K students over the years. It is an achievement that deserves to be celebrated. (Click here to read more about the 5 of 5 Award, including a list of the Kansas schools who received the award.)

But JAG-K is hardly resting on its laurels. Last week, the entire staff gathered in Wichita for our annual training conference. New career specialists received orientation and were mentored by veteran staff on what they can expect. The staff of 23 new programs were included in the training. We focused on the pillars of project-based learning, employer engagement and trauma informed care to ensure our staff are ready to engage and assist students in the upcoming school year.

As proud as we are of the honors we have received, we are even more excited to serve more than 5,500 students this year, an increase of approximately 1,200 over last year. This wouldn’t be possible without the support of Gov. Laura Kelly, the legislature, school districts across Kansas, and our many tremendous financial donors and workforce partners.

We’re trained and ready to improve upon the award-winning success of the past year!
