We’re live from 1085! Stop by to celebrate the past and the future of Junction Arts & Media on September 23rd from 5-7 PM at our launch party, hosted in our new JAM Space, 5 S. Main Street, First Floor (Newberry Markey) White River Junction, VT.

Enjoy music, nibbles, drinks, a confessional booth, highlights from years past, and our multi-generational media making community. 

September 12 through the 24th, come find yourself, your community, and our histories in CATV’s open archive! During our open hours, we will be displaying a retrospective of CATV programs from the past 30 years. Watch selected content (newly digitized from our DVD archive) or search through our collection of physical media.

Spooktacular Showcase on October 29 from 5:00 - 7:30PM.

An Installation by Carla Kimball

Carla Kimball is a long-time photographer, dancer, and emerging filmmaker. She is most interested in engaging viewers in a direct experience of her images and films. Recently, her exploration of stillness and movement has led her to project images and films on floating panels of fabric. Multiple projects have evolved from this inquiry including films of performers moving from panel to panel through natural landscapes as well as dancers moving through still photos projected onto the panels.

This installation will be on display at JAM during our office hours Monday-Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm through October 22.

Made Here Fund

Vermont Public launched the Made Here Fund initiative to broaden and diversify Vermont storytelling and support content creators. If you make video, audio or multimedia content, then this is the fund for you. They are especially interested in supporting documentary and educational content, but will also consider proposals for experimental, comedy, and fictional content, including audio drama, that gets at a truth about Vermont life.

Animation Pop-Up!

Drop into the JAM space on Friday Nov. 11 for our animation pop up!

Kids (and families!) elementary and middle school can get an introduction to basic stop motion animation on our iPads, then let their creativity run wild.

We will animate with legos, construction paper, toys, and more!

#PITCHFEST

Do you have a dream project you’ve been wanting to work on, but haven’t had the time or resources? Let’s make it happen! Pitch Fest is a JAM event geared towards paying creative people to make interesting things happen. Contestants can be awarded $250, $500, or $1000 for their proposal. Anyone can make a pitch regardless of age, experience, taste in ice cream, etc. Everyone’s invited!

Upper Valley media professionals share their trades and talents in master class-styled “jamLABS.” These hands-on media workshops can stand alone or work together to provide a comprehensive introduction to digital media arts production.

JAM Scriptwriters' Group

Gather bi-weekly with a dedicated group to meet talented local writers, learn new script writing techniques, and receive peer feedback on your work. Our scriptwriting group has flexible commitment and is free and open to all adult community members!

JAM Film Club 

It’s an after-school film club! Join us in the JAM space every Wednesday and connect with other young filmmakers. Learn what goes into making a movie, then put it to use making your own. All equipment will be provided.

Everest Crawford is an Upper Valley based filmmaker from Gloucester, Massachusetts. Growing up with photographers in the house, he always had a camera in his hand, compelled to record life around him. It wasn't until well into his undergraduate career at Dartmouth that Everest connected the dots and began to pursue filmmaking as an almost continuing cultivation and exploration of that childhood compulsion.

Everest views cinema as a kind of perfect artistic amalgamation– a master craft of differing mediums coming together to create a sum greater than its parts. But his passion for visual art and community building does not stop behind the camera. This past year, Everest lead the Freedom & Unity Young Filmmakers Contest, a contest born from the Vermont Movie project that invites young Vermont and New Hampshire residents to create films exploring the life and culture of the Green Mountain and Granite States. Everest worked tirelessly to facilitate the development of those young filmmakers, encouraging them to explore issues they found meaningful, create new and interesting films, all the while building fundamental filmmaking and communication skills. He has dabbled in many installation art and expanded cinema projects over the past few years as well.

Everest was instrumental in the creation of the inaugural Light River Junction (LRJ), a celebration of light, art and community in downtown White River Junction. Everest and the LRJ squad pioneered novel and ingenious methods to project art and cinema all across the town, and was steadfast in his desire to connect artists in the Upper Valley and pay them for their work. To do so, Everest and the team procured a grant from the state of Vermont in addition to reaching out to countless community members, asking to borrow projectors, sourcing art, finding musicians to play during the event, and bringing a whole new meaning to it takes a village. He is primed to reprise his integral role as we begin to prepare for Light River Junction 2022 in December.

There is no putting this filmmaker in a box. His eye is keen, but not overly discerning, never one to shy away from an artistic challenge or an opportunity to experiment with the visual medium. I consistently find myself drawn to seeing what life looks like through his lens.

In the Sewer (2021) by Half Nugget Productions took home the Technical Triumph and Peoples Choice Awards last year at JAMs annual Halloween-O-Thon Competition.
