#PITCHFEST 2.0

BIGGER AND BETTER!

Now a part of the White River Indie Film Festival, JAM is elated to once again present #PitchFest, a shark-tank style competition where local film and media makers have 5 minutes to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges with the hopes of winning actual cash money to bring their visions to life. This year we have a bigger stage, more money to give away, and more opportunities to help you make cool art!

Registration deadline is February 1, 2024.

32 SOUNDS

From our friends at the Hopkins Center:

Premiering at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, this immersive documentary with live narration by filmmaker Sam Green offers a meditation on the power of sound to bend time, cross borders and shape our perception of the world around us. This extraordinary and unique cinematic experience offers filmmakers inspiration for new ways to use sound and create art that extends beyond the screen.

FEATURED FILMMAKER

Placing the spotlight on local talent

Quinn Thomashow

Quinn Thomashow is a JAM alum and previous featured filmmaker. Last time we chatted, she was on her way to Los Angeles to attend the American Film Institute for cinematography. You can listen to that conversation here.

In her time at AFI, Quinn has had the opportunity to hone her craft and DP on many projects, including her own visual essay Drip (2022), featured above, which screened at the Harmony Gold Theatre in Los Angeles and was featured by Kodak in their #ShotOnFilm Series.

Now, in her third year at AFI, Quinn approaches her culminating project: Are the Stars Alive? A short story told entirely MOS on 35mm film that honors forgotten women storytellers and prompts viewers to ask big questions. The film pays tribute to pioneering women, like astronomer Maria Mitchell (who the film is loosely based off of), and the women who painstakingly hand colored George Melies’ masterpieces from the early days of cinema.

Learn more about Quinn's project and how you can support it below!
