The Farm Boy

Vermont-made film premiere at the Briggs Opera House

The Farm Boy is a WWII era story about a young man who drives milk truck for his father. He meets a girl at a barn dance and eventually marries her. The day after, he leaves for Europe, to the Ardennes in Belgium, December, 1944. His mechanical experience from growing up on the farm comes in handy during what will become known as The Battle of the Bulge. Left for dead in battle, what follows is a riveting adventure that will test his integrity.

Directed by George Woodard and produced by Joan Brace O'Neal, who will be in attendance for Q&A following the film.

Filmed in black and white, using wide angle lenses and conventional camera techniques of that time period, The Farm Boy was filmed mostly on George Woodard’s farm in Waterbury Center Vermont.

Farm-to-Film Fest @JAM

JAM, Vital Communities and King Arthur Baking Company have teamed up to present a unique one-day Farm-to-Film Fest of films, live music and dance, food, activities, and farmer meet-and-greets to build awareness of the importance of adopting regenerative farming practices rooted in indigenous agriculture traditions as a climate solution and the harms of our current unsustainable food system. Our mission is to promote Upper Valley farms that are taking direct climate action and to share hopeful solutions to the climate crisis.

FALL JAM CLUB

It’s an after-school film and media making club! Join us in the JAM space Wednesdays and connect with other young film and media makers. Learn different aspects of media making from short films to podcasts and everything in between from industry professionals. All equipment will be provided.
