#PitchFest returns as a staple of WRIF, The White River Indie Film Festival!

JAM is elated to once again host #PitchFest, a shark-tank style competition where local film and media makers have 5 minutes to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges with the hopes of winning money to bring their vision to life.

We will be hosting a Zoom PitchFest Info Session on January 15th at 5:30 to answer any questions or concerns you may have about this competition!

WHITE RIVER INDIE FILM FEST

Founded in 2004, White River Indie Films was created by a small group of film lovers who wanted to bring works from outside the mainstream to an appreciative audience. The first three-day festival was held in White River Junction, Vermont in 2005. From the beginning, our focus was on screening issue-oriented films, hosting discussions, and partnering with community organizations with the goal of inspiring change. Alongside this mission was the aim of bringing filmmakers and audiences together to enjoy groundbreaking, provocative, entertaining cinema.

MOVING IMAGE FUND GRANT

New England-based directors and producers seeking production and post-production funds for feature-length (40+ min) nonfiction film and video projects are encouraged to apply for LEF’s next grant deadline on January 17, 2025.

JAM FILM & MEDIA COURSES

JAM is now offering film and media courses to support in-depth learning in diverse areas of digital storytelling and media creation. Intended for adults (16+), courses are designed by JAM staff members eager to share their passions and practices with the community. JAM values accessibility for all; tuition assistance or waiver is available upon request.

SCRIPTWRITERS' GROUP

Gather bi-weekly with a dedicated group to meet talented local writers, learn new script writing techniques, and receive peer feedback on your work. Meetings are free of charge and not mandatory, but we encourage consistent participation to get the most out of this group!

Kiersten White's (she/her) passion is to be equitable and representational in making impactful and informative visual entertainment. She has directed and produced films independently and with production companies for the last 8 years. The last documentary she produced, “Dennis E. Thomas: Center Stage”, won a 2023 Silver Telly Award. Kiersten’s independently-produced short, “A Differently-Curated World”, won Best Story at the Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Film Festival.

Julia Anderson (she/her) is a screenwriter from White River Junction, Vermont. This year Julia’s scripts were awarded Quarterfinalist for WeScreenplay’s Diverse Voices Lab and Semifinalist for WeScreenplay’s TV Pilot Lab. Her scripts have also been featured on Coverfly’s Red List of top ranked sci-fi projects. She is passionate about writing the stories with representation she wishes she had growing up, and all the stories she wishes to see now! She wrote the series Black Girls Kissing as an ode to her younger and present self; queer, black and always dreaming.
