Welcome to our 2nd HPN June, 2025 CALL SHEET, where faith meets the frontlines of entertainment through the power of PRAYER!!
We are praying for Hollywood and the people who shape culture through film, television, music, fashion, gaming, social media and beyond. As believers we don’t just consume culture, we impact it. That’s why we’re so grateful that YOU are a part of this growing movement of creatives and intercessors, who believe God is at work in the global entertainment industry!
As we celebrated Father’s Day this past Sunday, we honored the faithful, present fathers in our HPN community. But we also recognize that for many in Hollywood and across our culture, Father’s Day can surface wounds, dark memories, or complicated stories. The longing for a father’s love is one of the most repeated themes in film and television. As believers, we know that this longing ultimately points to our Heavenly Father; the One who never leaves us, always sees us, and calls us His own. Let’s pray for the intimate experience of God as Father to the fatherless in every corner of the entertainment industry!
Together, we pray, create, and believe that Hollywood can be transformed by the God of the universe!

The Television Academy has chosen their new Board of Governors and HPN member and friend DeVon Franklin has been voted in as Vice President. We’re excited for DeVon and ask that you pray for his effectiveness in leadership and divine favor as he builds professional relationships and impacts policy in this powerful organization.

Janet Jackson shared her gratitude for her faith and country during her Icon Award acceptance speech at the 2025 American Music Awards. We are thankful for her boldness to give God the credit and to speak humbly about her life.

JAMIE FOXX THANKS GOD
We are moved by Jamie Foxx’s appearance at the BET Awards, where he expressed heartfelt gratitude to his daughter and gave glory to God for saving his life. After surviving a near-fatal brain aneurysm and stroke, Foxx shared that he knew he had been brought back to life by God. Artists are often modern-day prophets, creative truth-tellers with the power to move culture and point people toward the greater good. We give thanks for those who boldly acknowledge God in public spaces and continue to pray for the countless others still searching for hope, healing, and truth.

FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP IN PASADENA
As the Rose Bowl hosts six matches of the FIFA Club World Cup this month, fans and players are facing intense heat and constant pressure from international media sources. Creative performances and cultural celebrations are also part of the festivities, drawing thousands from around the world. Join us in praying for the safety, strength, and heart of every player, attendee, and artist involved, as well as for the ministries serving the games this week and next. May this event reflect not only athletic excellence and cultural unity, but also spark community, spiritual conversations, and divine creativity!

BOX OFFICE HIT HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
The Dreamworks animated feature film How To Train Your Dragon is a huge success at the box office and is bringing families into movie theatres all over the world. With a story about fatherhood, sonship and identity, it was the perfect Father’s Day Weekend family film! Let’s thank God for the surge of theatre goers and pray for more producers, writers and directors to want to make great family films and TV shows. We should not judge the entertainment being produced. We should pray for the hearts of the people creating that entertainment!

JOHN BRENKUS DIED BY SUICIDE
The death of John Brenkus, News Anchor and host & co-creator of ESPN’s Sport Science was announced on June 1, 2025, through his company Brinx.TV's social media. In the statement it said John "had been battling depression" and that he "lost his fight with this terrible illness." Let’s pray for John’s family and friends and for so many other professionals in Hollywood who cover up their mental illnesses with a public image - sometimes until it’s too late. The suicide rate of Hollywood professionals has been rising and we know that only the healing, hope and unconditional love of Jesus can save so many people’s relationships, careers and lives!

CALIFORNIA’S TAX INCENTIVES FOR TV & FILM PRODUCTION
Please pray for the state of our industry in California. After many decades of high taxes and costs to shoot films and TV shows in California, our state has lost most of its production to Canada, Europe and other "right to work" states in the US. Realizing the gravity of the situation, our state government is proposing new and bigger film tax credits and incentives to bring production back. But we need to pray that it will actually happen, and sooner, rather than later. And let’s pray that families won’t keep needing to move to other states to keep working in our industry. One producer said, as he was planning to move out of state, that “LA is the new Detroit”. May the Lord supply for the thousands of professionals who can’t get work in their hometown.

ERIC DANE HAS ALS
Actor Eric Dane, star of Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria, opens up about his recent ALS diagnosis. Eric speaks out, with tears, about his disease, the anger he experiences as he battles symptoms, and the pain of leaving his children. Let’s pray for Eric to make the most of the time he has, and for his wife Rebecca Gayheart and their two daughters. Let’s also pray that Eric meets Jesus on his journey ahead, and even for full healing, if the Lord so chooses!

Lisa Vermillion is building an entertainment platform, and her company is currently conducting user research to better understand the processes, tools, and needs of creatives in the industry. They are organizing 60-minute research sessions via Zoom in the coming weeks to gather insights from a diverse range of creators across various creative fields.

Step Right Up Kids Camp
Summer fun for your kids: Hosted by First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood
Kid’s Camp is a week-long morning program for kids ages 4-12 that will meet from 9:00am-12:30pm during the week of July 14-18th. The theme this year is Step Right Up! The cost will be $50 per child for the week. This will cover lunches and supplies.

Through our One-to-One Prayer Partnerships, we match committed intercessors with Christian industry professionals. As an intercessor, you’ll pray for a specific individual working in entertainment, offering spiritual support and encouragement right where it’s needed most to your own Media Missionary!
