Message from the PAA President

Happy New Year!!!

The Holidays are past us and the New Year has arrived. I am not sure I have met anyone that is sad to see the year 2020 behind us. I usually do not make New Year’s Resolutions and this year is no exception, but I do hope to make 2021 a banner year for the Plano Art Association.

December’s Holiday Party was unique since we did not meet in person, but used Zoom. I thank Linda McCarley for arranging Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes to be our speaker. I thought she did a wonderful job. Gaby Pruitt and Linda McCarley set up the presentation of “Our Favorite Pieces” for us enjoy at the end of the year. It was a fun way to wind down the Holidays. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Have a Safe and Healthy New Year Everyone!!!
.
Thanks,
Karla
PAA Members Meeting January 26 at 7pm
PAA will host its monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 26 via Zoom. It will be an Art Share/ Critique led by John Van Ness and Gaby Pruitt. We can view up to 15 different works in the meeting. Each artists is allowed only one work to be submitted. We close the submissions after 15 have been accepted.

Please send submissions to [email protected] in the form of a jpg file by Tuesday, January 19. Title the file with the artist last name. For instance, Karla's submission would be titled keese.jpg. If more than one picture of the same work is sent place a number after your name. Karla's submissions would become keese1.jpg then keese2.jpg, etc. We can spend 5-6 minutes on average per piece during the meeting. Zoom links for the meeting will be provided soon.

An example of what can be discussed are the following:
1.    What is the name of the piece?
2.    What are the dimensions of the piece?
3.    What inspired the piece?
4.    What is the medium(s) used?
5.    What difficulties did you encounter with this piece and how
xxxxdid you overcome them?
6.    Would you do anything different if you made it (or similar)
xxxxagain?
Girl Scout Project
I have sent several e-mails to all active members describing a Girl Scout Project the PAA has been invited to join. Suma Vegesna, a Girl Scout, is working on producing a coloring book for residents (or patients) in the Eating Disorder wing at a local hospital. This coloring book is for recreation only. She has given us some guidelines to follow. If anyone has not received my e-mail and wants to help, please contact me at [email protected]

Plase encourage others to participate and sign up as well.

Amazon Smile
Did you know you can give money to the PAA just by using Amazon Smile. Instead of using the general Amazon website, sign on the Amazon Smile. Designate Plano Art Association as your charity and any purchases you make will have a small percentage of the Amazon profit go to the PAA instead. It is an easy way to give money and you pay the same price for the items on Amazon Smile as you would for the regular Amazon. Just think if all of our members (and maybe their family and friends) would do this as a habit. It would really help our budget.
