First MANUFACTURING 2000 Quick-Train Cohort Completes Training at University of PGH Homewood CEC and Advances to South Side

New Century Careers is proud to celebrate the success of the first cohort of the MANUFACTURING 2000 (M2K) Quick-Train program at the University of Pittsburgh Community Engagement Center in Homewood!

The two dedicated participants, James J. and Edward L., recently completed the 120-hour Quick-Train program, where they earned two industry-recognized credentials. With these achievements, they are now taking the next step in their career journey—continuing their training at New Century Careers’ main facility in the South Side to refine their skills, earn more credentials, and prepare for full-time employment in manufacturing.

The M2K Quick-Train program in Homewood was designed to provide an accessible, tuition-free entry point into the world of manufacturing. By offering job-ready training, credentialing, and job placement assistance, this initiative creates opportunities for individuals to secure high-demand, lifelong careers in the industry.

Now, as we gear up for our next cohort starting on March 3rd, 2025, we encourage any individual to take advantage of this free training program. Whether you're looking for a fresh start or a path into a stable, rewarding career, M2K Quick-Train can help you achieve your goals.

City Charter High School Interns Gain Work Experience

at New Century Careers

New Century Careers is excited to welcome two student interns from City Charter High School as they gain valuable real-world experience in both administrative and hands-on manufacturing roles.

Abdul, one of the interns, is working alongside our office staff, learning administrative skills, and workplace communication. Through this experience, he is developing professional skills that will serve him well in any career path he chooses.

Meanwhile, Jaime is getting firsthand experience in the machine shop, working under the supervision of our shop supervisor, John Alexander. He is learning the fundamentals of machining, shop safety, and facility upkeep, giving him insight into the world of manufacturing.

Internships like these provide young students with early insights to career pathways, helping them build confidence and develop the skills needed for future success. We are proud to support workforce development at all levels, ensuring the next generation is equipped with the knowledge and experience to thrive.

We look forward to seeing Abdul and Jaime grow throughout their internships and appreciate the partnership with City Charter High School in creating meaningful learning opportunities for students!
