SDOC Safety & Survival Swimming Program

Thank you!

In this season of sharing and thankfulness, we, here at the Foothills Area YMCA, wanted to thank all of the members for sharing our Y with 687 Third Graders and 18 Special Education Middle School Students! This was the second year of the SDOC Safety & Survival Swimming program here in Oconee County. Students learned valuable self-rescue skills, as well as basic water and boating safety, all while having fun! Oconee County has 592 miles of shoreline, and 84.5% of our county's borders are water, making these water safety skills invaluable for our youth. Again, thank you to our wonderful members for sharing and caring about our young people.

Teaching Lifelong Healthy Habits

Clemson SNAP-Ed Program

Starting in 2018, the Foothills Area YMCA developed a successful partnership with Clemson SNAP-Ed to provide health education to youth in our After School Care programs. The students learned how small changes can make a big difference in a person’s health.

Visit the USDA website and read the featured article about this partnership between SNAP-Ed and the Y.
