I trust this newsletter will find you and your family well. As we move into our second quarter, we have a number of exciting things taking place for our members.
First, Tami Godsey and her committee are planning some "Connection Calls" via Zoom in November. The purpose is for the members to stay connected. Second, Linda Schoelkopf and her Communications Committee have been constantly “fine-tuning” our new website. Please check it out. Finally, we are planning a face-to-face gathering on January 27, 2022, at the JA office in Orlando, Florida. We will start at 11:30 AM and lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to john@jrweil.com. Everyone is welcome!
Our Annual Meeting will be held in conjunction with the JA USA National Conference in July 2022 in Fort Worth. Our meeting days are not set yet, but they will be sometime during the week of July 11, 2022. Please consider joining us.

Junior Achievement HQ Up for Sale |

As many may know, the decision has been made to sell the Junior Achievement USA headquarters building at One Education Way in Colorado Springs, CO. The intent is to use proceeds from the sale to lease a smaller, hybrid-focused working space in Colorado Springs. There are several reasons for this decision.
When originally built in 1986, One Education Way housed more than 100 associates, a warehouse, a mailroom, and a full-service training center. Today, only about 40 JA USA associates work in Colorado Springs, with the rest working remotely across the country. The warehouse functions have been outsourced, office automation has reduced the need for a dedicated mailroom, and most training will now occur virtually or in other cities that are more easily accessible to JA associates. While there have been many parties interested in touring the building, there isn’t a contract pending at this time.
The prospective sale means that the JA Pioneer Museum, which is housed in the lobby of the current headquarters, is also in the process of being re-envisioned. Options under consideration include an online virtual museum, as well as a smaller display at the new facility when it is eventually developed. There is a memorandum of understanding with the JA Staff Alumni Network ensuring the long-term existence of the Museum. JASAN is working with JAUSA and our archivist to determine the best way to accomplish this.

It's that time of year to reflect and be grateful, and we feel it's the perfect time to catch up with each other. We will host two Zoom calls on that same day. You will be able to pick the time that works best for your schedule so you can join us. This is truly an opportunity to talk, see each other on Zoom, and catch up. More details will be shared soon. We hope you can join us!

JASAN finished the 2020/21 fiscal year in a strong financial position, with our operating fund balance increasing by more than 80% to $205,574. This increase was driven by $82,843 in contributions we received from the more than $130,000 committed towards the SOS Campaign, funding our three-year commitment to provide training scholarships.
We also benefitted from excellent investment returns throughout the year. JASAN uses a cash model for our financials, rather than an accrual model.
Operating expenses were as expected and included the special project of redesigning the JASAN website. All expenses fell within the budget and there were no extraordinary or unusual expenditures.
