SVRA Trans-Am Series Featuring J. Bittle

The next two weekends are big race weekends for chief gearhead and owner of the shop, J. Bittle. Racing his historic 1968 Hinchcliff/Ross Ford Mustang in the prestigious SVRA series at Sonoma Raceway April, 22-25 and Laguna Seca April, 28 - May 2. For J "The Spirit of Competition" lives still for these incredibly restored, historically accurate, original racers. From 1966-1972 the original series 5-liter muscle cars dominated.  J. is looking to "Eat Porsches for breakfast, and Ferraris for lunch". Foxbody Autocross With Austin Bittle

Sunday, April 11th Austin Bittle took on California Speedway in Fontana at the NMCA West AutoX. Racing in the "Classic Muscle" category he piloted his Foxbody Mustang to ever decreasing lap times. Dropping over 3 seconds after a tire change to a Falken RT660, he finished strong on a course designed as a miniature replica of the Bahrain F1 course.   Austin’s event details can be found here.

Left Turns on Dirt With Rusty Staley

April 17th on the dirt track was an exciting day for our own Rusty Staley as he took home 2nd out of 13 cars at Barona Speedway. Driving his JBA sponsored 1978 Chevy Camaro in the Pure Stock class, he fought his way through the grid to a season placement record. There are 14 races left this season with next on May 1st. Aardema-Braun Lakester Gunning for Record at El Mirage

Friends of the shop and longtime San Diego Roadster Club members Pete Aardema and Kevin Braun tuned their purpose-built race car on our dyno this week. Preparing for the SCTA Time Trials at El Mirage, the C/GL class Lakester is shooting for a record of 226+ mph. The car, built by Aardema-Braun, features a one-off V12 comprised of 4 vintage Indy-Car heads machined together to create the 9,800 rpm, 920 hp beast.  Their schedule can be found here.

Race School Thank you to all of you who showed up to the Intro to Road Racing 101 class, it was a huge success. The track day event is scheduled to take place at California Speedway, Fontana this weekend on the 24th. We're excited to see the progression of our students and look forward to offering more classes like this in the future.
