Celebrating Our Leaders, National Principal's Month

To celebrate our school leaders, we are highlighting a principal each week during National Principal's Month. This week, we are shining a light on the principal of Hardeeville Elementary School, Mr. Bryan Jefferson, a native of Jasper County.

Principal Jefferson has been leading HES for (5) five years. Mr. Jefferson is known for having high expectations for his scholars and staff. He encourages everyone to give their best effort, and bring a positive attitude in an effort to inspire a sense of personal responsibility among our county's children.

Mr. Jefferson adds, "I want our students to be enthusiastic, confident, and inquisitive learners. To promote student success, I believe in fostering a shared-learning community that prioritizes communication, efficiency, safety and respect. Staff, parent/guardian, and student collaboration is very important to me. We have high expectations of our students, and we have high expectations of ourselves to help all students learn and grow into well-rounded citizens and critical thinkers. Hardeeville Elementary aims to develop leadership skills, social and emotional skills, and academic skills to prepare students for success not only in elementary school but also when they leave elementary school." Mr. Jefferson is a member of SCASA and is also on the board of directors for SC ASCD. He is also a certified Crisis Prevention Intervention Instructor. He uses these skills to better support his staff in ways to support students who have experienced trauma and who may be in distress. One of Mr. Jefferson's strengths are teaching and learning. He enjoys meeting with his staff and supporting them through the state standards. His staff considers him a guru when it comes to deconstructing standards and challenging them to "raise the bar" with regards to the academic success of the students.

With a philosophy like that, it is no surprise that Mr. Jefferson's school continues to be a leader in our district.

High Dosage Tutoring Program

RSAE 8th grade students are embarking on a new path to learning through Teach for America's high dosage tutoring program. Students in this pilot program connect with TFA Ignite fellows from universities across the United States for small group learning experiences in math. Through the Pencil Spaces web-based program, the tutors and students connect and collaborate in real-time to ignite a new math passion in preparation for state assessments.

Let's Get Educated, Renewing the Penny

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with The Penny Plan to support Jasper County School Projects!

Projected Annual Revenue Generated for Jasper County Schools Projects Funding:

  • $8,450,000 per year increasing 1% per year through 2040
  • A significant portion of sales taxes in Jasper County are paid by non-residents
  • Under the plan, debt service millage in the School District will not increase.

A "YES" vote will:

  • Continue generating revenue for critical school facility projects.
  • Help fund the construction and renovation of educational buildings without raising property taxes.
  • Ensure we provide safe and modern learning environments for our students.

A "NO" vote will require the School District to find other funding sources (such as increased property taxes) to pay for capital improvements
