Hello there,

Thank you to all who visited the JC NERR and Rutgers Marine Field Station during our annual Open House event! Your support is always appreciated. Also, a big thanks to our volunteers and staff for making it happen! I like to think of our Open House as the start of the JC NERR's fall programs. We have some fun programs happening in October, plus our full Lunch N' Learn schedule is now available! Finally, there are some announcements below from our partners. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Happy fall all!

Sincerely, Kaitlin Gannon

Rutgers Cooperative Extension's Renewable Energy series

Join the Rutgers Cooperative Extension for a fall series on renewable energy in New Jersey. Renewable energy is derived from natural sources that are replaced faster than they are used (for example, sunlight, wind, water flows, and geothermal heat). Because most renewable energies produce less CO2 than nonrenewable energy sources, they are widely viewed as playing a role in mitigating climate change. This webinar series will outline types of renewable energies being pursued throughout New Jersey.

2023 Jersey Friendly Yards Conference!

September 30th, 2023

Ocean County College

Here in New Jersey we’re seeing the impacts of a changing climate, including in our yards. At this year’s Jersey-Friendly Yards conference, we’ll learn about landscaping practices that help us get ready for climate-change challenges like heat, drought, intense rain and flooding. Featured speakers will be Dr. Christopher Obropta (Extension Specialist in Water Resources, Rutgers Cooperative Extension) and Christopher Miller (Cape May Plant Center Manager/Conservation Agronomist, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service). As always, a native plant sale will be part of the conference. Take home some climate-ready, wildlife-friendly native plants! Visit the Jersey Friendly Yards Website link to learn more.
