JCA Enjoys an Evening at the Ballpark
Bethesda Big Train, a summer collegiate baseball league that is part of the Cal Ripkin program, recognized JCA as its Community Hero at its June 30th game. JCA staff and their guests were invited to attend the game and feast on a free dinner. At every home game, Big Train recognizes a local non-profit as its Community Hero. JCA thanks Big Train for its support and recognition.

Staff Profile: Cathy Nestoriak
Cathy Nestoriak, Director of Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) and Upskill Older Worker Training, has always been interested in the human side of the employment process. Cathy has worked on various contracts and assignments from the National Council on Aging (NCOA), Montgomery County Recreation, Catholic Charities, and Empower Baltimore. Over time, she had the opportunity to delve into all types of employment programs. For several years Cathy ran her own agency for job placement which provided moms and others a chance to work. After that, she returned to the world of workforce development by way of HR as a recruiter and an HR generalist. Her heart was more into helping those she saw struggling. Cathy has run classes, training sessions, taught and coached using her corporate recruiting experience. Her current position as Director of SCSEP provides on-the-job training for low-income seniors. SCSEP participants gain important skills and build their resumes while working for nonprofits and government agencies. "SCSEP is a bridge back to employment. A job is more than a job; it gives people a chance to grow, learn, socialize, and be productive while earning a paycheck, which is the best!"
