Dear Parent / Guardian,
It is with great anticipation that I welcome you to another school year. We are extremely excited to welcome the Class of 2022 to Joliet Catholic Academy, and also celebrate the accomplishments of the newly minted graduating Class of 2018. The Class of 2018 collectively earned over $12 million towards college scholarships, performed over 12,000 hours of community service, had 31 students named Illinois State Scholars, and achieved a mean ACT score of 24.4 (30.04 in the Honors Program; 27.1 for the top 50% of the class).
What do these numbers signify in context? Over 75% of the Class of 2018 earned a 21 or higher on their ACT, with 99% percent of graduates continuing onto college and a 100% college acceptance rate. Additionally, 70% of JCA students successfully passed A.P. Examinations, well above the local and state averages of 65.6% and 37.6% reported in 2017. Also for comparison, Illinois’ state public school averages of 46% scoring 21 or higher on the ACT, and 68% of graduates continuing onto college provide evidence for the competitive advantage of a Joliet Catholic Academy education.
These numbers reflect not only the outstanding achievement of our student body, but also the sacrifice by our families and community to give JCA students a faith-based education that is second to none.
There is no doubt the Class of 2018 has left an indelible mark on the halls of JCA, and will venture to do the same for the local community and beyond as they strive toward successful futures.

Meals on Wheels Drivers Needed!
JCA has a 30 year history with the Meals on Wheels program in Joliet. One day a week, a representative of JCA has delivered meals to home-bound senior citizens and hopefully brightened their day a little in the process. During the school year, parent volunteers drive two senior students on our assigned route every Friday. If you have flexibility in your schedule and would like to help with this important service program, you can fill out the parent volunteer form, or email or call campus ministry directly. With enough volunteers, parents should only be asked to drive once-a-month at most. Campus Ministry is proud to help with this service tradition and would like to extend their gratitude in advance to all that volunteer.
HOUSING NEEDED FOR NET MINISTRIES TEAM
This coming school year we will once again be welcoming NET ministries to our school to lead our underclassmen retreat. They explain it best on their website by saying
“NET Ministries challenges young Catholics to love Christ and embrace the life of the Church. Every August, 175 young Catholics aged 18-28 leave behind their jobs, school, family, and friends to devote nine months to serving with the National Evangelization Teams (NET).
Divided into 16 teams, they travel across the U.S. for nine months to share the Gospel with young people and their families. Since 1981, NET teams have led over 32,000 retreats and ministered to more than 1.9 million young Catholics.”
We are lucky to have a NET team at JCA and need to ask your help in hosting them. When NET ministries are visiting a parish or school like ours, they rely upon the kindness of their hosts to provide housing and two meals for the team. What that means is that they need a clear floor to lay their sleeping bag on and a small breakfast and friendly dinner.
The team splits into pairs or sometimes trios so
we will need between 4 or 5 houses
to offer them. They will be spending the night October 2
. If this is something you and your family would like to participate in, please contact campus ministry with your interest. We will be happy to go over details and answer any questions.
Questions? Contact Campus Ministry.

Shadow Visits and Private Tours
Here at JCA, we realize that each family has specific needs, questions and expectations for their child. Therefore, we offer private tours to families throughout the year. Simply contact the Admissions Office at 815.741.0500 to schedule a mutually convenient time. The JCA Admissions Staff values our current JCA families as the greatest ambassadors for our school. Recommending an area family or student you know who is in 7th or 8th grade, or a potential high school transfer students, is a great way to help spread the word about JCA. Please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Quigley or Mrs. Ragusa in Admissions to connect with local families interested in JCA.
Shadow Visits offer seventh- and eighth-grade students an individualized experience by pairing a prospective student with a current Angel or Hilltopper who shares his/her academic and extracurricular interests. Students may shadow on most Fridays that JCA is in session from September through April.
Current high school students wishing to transfer to JCA are also encouraged to schedule a Shadow Visit and will be offered the opportunity to spend the day at JCA as part of the transfer process.
