SAILING INTO RETIREMENT

JCCB is an awesome organization that is on very sound footing. The wonderful volunteers that make JCCB work are the heart and soul of the organization. The financial support that JCCB receives from many of you is critical to the success of JCCB.

The warmth and support that JCCB gives to our low-income neighbors is very important and makes a big difference in the lives of those we help. JCCB works because of the support of all of you and is not dependent on the work of one person. The work of each one person is, however, very important and comes together with the support of everyone else to form a true community-based organization.

Based on the fact that JCCB is in excellent shape and well prepared for the future, as well as where I am at in my life, it is time for me to retire. It is because JCCB is in extremely good shape that I am able to make the decision to retire.

My retirement will be effective sometime between Dec 31, 2021 and March 31, 2022. The exact date depends on when a new Executive Director is hired and a few other factors. After my retirement I will be available, to the extent the new Executive Director desires, to consult and answer questions.

While I may be retiring my love and support for JCCB will not change. I intend to continue to support JCCB with financial contributions and to the extent the new ED is comfortable by volunteering. I am confident that all of you will continue to support JCCB with your time and financial resources. Please give the new Executive Director your full support.

OUR FUTURE IS BRIGHT

On behalf of the JCCB Board I would like to thank Larry Bigus for his 7 years of dedication and commitment to the JCCB mission and to our clients. He has helped the organization build on the strong foundation of the many incredible volunteers and donors to help create awareness of the need throughout the community. We are very grateful for his passion, talents, and hard work. We wish him the very best in his retirement.

JCCB is in great shape to begin the search for a new Executive Director. Our mission is strong, all policies have been updated, the volunteer team descriptions and guidelines are complete, the website has been updated, the executive director job description is ready, and we are prepared for the transition to our next leader. Our goal is to find the best qualified candidate who is passionate, collaborative, resourceful and a good fit for JCCB.

We are fortunate to have each of you to thank for your support, making it possible to provide for over 12,000 clients each year. During the transition we appreciate your continued willingness to generously give your time, talents, and financial support.

We will continue to hold ourselves to our values throughout this transition:

We are committed to pursuing the highest standards at every level of the organization and to putting forth our personal and professional best.

In the meantime, we look forward to Larry guiding us as we prepare and conduct the 2021 Benefit and SHOP. He will continue to be our Executive Director until we have completed a successful search and hired our new Executive Director.

ANYONE FEEL LIKE ROLLIN' OUT THE BARRELS?

OK, not literally "rollin", but we are looking for someone to LEAD the Barrel Team by making calls to those who have previously had barrels and scheduling delivery and pickup of our barrels. All of this work can be done from home with a phone and computer. Our past Barrel Lead has an excellent spreadsheet to work from and has offered to meet with you to share his experience and help get you started.

AND if you have a large SUV or a pickup truck, we could sure use your help delivering and picking up our donation barrels from September through Mid-December.
