Many of you will recognize Diana Willman as a long time volunteer with the Christmas Bureau. In addition to serving on the Volunteer Team, Diana is also our liaison to the Johnson County Young Matrons. To further demonstrate her commitment to our mission, she has now joined our Board of Directors. We anticipate drawing heavily on her knowledge of the Holiday SHOP operation as well as all of JCCB's programs.
Thank you, Diana, for all that you do for JCCB!
Allow us to introduce you to Natalie Newsome who joined our Board this month. Natalie is RSM's Manager, Audit Services within their nonprofit practice. She will be working with Ed Corr to prepare for taking over as Treasurer next year. She and her husband Tyler live in Overland Park with their fur baby Wallace, a big chocolate doodle. Natalie enjoys reading, meeting with her book club, and cheering on the KC Chiefs and KU Jayhawks. She is looking forward to getting back to traveling with Tyler and seeing the world. Welcome to the team, Natalie!
Following is a quote from one of our 2020 Holiday SHOP clients:
"The holiday shop is a great help for parents to be able to have something under the tree for the kids. The personal items and groceries are an immense help during an already stressful and economically hard time."
We're looking for a few good MEN or WOMEN or BOTH!
Our Transportation Team periodically needs help loading and/or unloading merchandise as it is moved from one location to another. These volunteer positions are crucial to our mission, but also are very flexible and can often be coordinated to fit your schedule. We need truck drivers, drivers' helpers and loaders. Bonus points if you can drive a 26' lift gate truck or are comfortable pulling a trailer.
BARRELS OF FUN
Long time Barrel-Master Steve Russell is stepping down as Team Leader this year, so you can step in and work to coordinate this important aspect of our Holiday SHOP. We need someone to make contacts to secure locations for placement of our merchandise collection barrels, as well as folks who can deliver and pick them up. Steve will still be available to answer any questions you may have.
A heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to Steve Russell for all you've done to keep our barrels filled!
Please contact us if these important positions are a good fit for you!
We have a wonderful group of knitters who contribute handmade items to the HUGS Department, BUT our supply of yarn is critically low. If you can donate worsted weight yarn of any color or type, please drop it off at our office - you can leave it in the YARN drawer on the enclosed porch.
Holiday of HOPE Benefit
'BACK TO THE SIXTIES'
To celebrate our founding in 1960, we are turning back the clocks to the decade of peace and love! Lots of us remember those days and those of you who were not growing up back then are in for a treat!
The Sponsorship Team is already hard at work and we anticipate a great event.
