Dear Cheryl,
The St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum and the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), through the Newmark Institute for Human Relations, are two of several organizations to support the public lecture taking place this Monday, March 27 with David Kertzer on his new book, The Pope at War: The Secret History of Pius XII, Mussolini and Hitler.
The supporters of this program have joined together because we all agree on the historic significance and contemporary relevance of The Pope at War, which is based upon the latest research from the Vatican’s newly-opened archives. What Kertzer learned, and will share on Monday, sheds light on the largely untold, and often debated, role the Vatican and Pope Pius XII played in response to the Holocaust.
Like Kertzer, the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum aims to educate the public with the latest research in the field of Holocaust studies. We empower all visitors to engage with the history of the Holocaust – told through the stories and voices of those who experienced it firsthand – and to consider ways to apply its powerful lessons in our daily lives.
At the Museum, we remind people that “Change Begins with Us.” We truly believe that diving into the challenging history of the Holocaust, the topic of Monday evening's lecture, encourages each one of us to reconsider new ways to reject hated, promote understanding, and lead change in our communities.
We hope to see each of you on Monday at 7:00 pm at Graham Chapel at Washington University for this important program. Please see below for more information and how to register.
Shabbat Shalom,
