The Results are In!

This month has gotten away from me! The election canvasses are over, and the August 1 primary results are final. Republicans pushed through to the general election in all races; however, our celebration must be tempered. The following candidates will advance to the November elections:

Jenny Gilmore - Olathe School Board, At-Large

Robin Essex - Olathe City Council, Ward 1

Wayne Janner - Olathe City Council, At-Large

Lori Cook - Prairie Village City Council, Ward 3

Rose Gerringer - Merriam City Council, Ward 2

Bethany Griffith - Lenexa City Council, Ward 1

Carol Merritt - Overland Park City Council, Ward 1

Congratulations to each of them! Now, the real work begins.

Corporate Sponsors Needed

We are planning a huge event for the first week of March. We are in need of some corporate and/or small businesses to step up and offer sponsorships. More details will be released in next month's newsletter. If you can help by sponsoring or making an introduction, please contact our Chair, Maria Holiday, at 913-461-4443.

Volunteer of the Month

The office was in dire need of an update. We wanted to create a beautiful space to which all Republicans could "come home" for events, meetings, and important campaign work. We now have a space nearly finished that can accommodate all of this!

I can't begin to name the number of people who volunteered their time and efforts. So many have pitched in a morning here or an evening there. Throughout the process, we have had a leader. He understood my vision and unknowingly became the project manager, crew, and advisor. It simply would not have happened without him!

Thank you, Steve Kline! We all owe you HUGE debt of gratitude.

Texts and Voter Guides

There have been a lot of questions about sending texts, mailers, and voter guides to Republicans in the primary. We have been asked why Democrats are sending texts and mailers but we are not. Let's talk about that.

The Party does not endorse one Republican over another during primaries. There were only seven primaries in Johnson County, and four of them had multiple Republicans in the race. We did strategically send texts, but we did not do any mailers. If you didn't get one, it's because you had probably already voted by then. We don't spend money sending texts to people who have already voted. I'm frugal like that. :)

There is an even more simple reason: Democrats raise far more money than Republicans do. Businesses and individuals give not just their time but also their treasure. They raise enough to pay to have doors knocked and mailers printed and sent.

I invite each of you to consider your giving level to the Republican Party. Who do you know that owns a business that would sponsor an event? Everyone wants to be assured that their money will not be wasted. I have researched the lowest priced reliable vendors for everything we have done, and I would be happy to discuss with anyone who would like more information.

AUGUST ELEPHANT CLUB

Over the next few months leading up to the general election, we will have candidates from various races here to speak to us. This month, we have invited school board and the JCCC Board of Trustee candidates to answer questions.

We will be meeting in a brand new space: OUR SPACE! Elephant Club members will have the first sneak peek at our new office space. We are in the same location but have redesigned the space to accommodate larger groups. This change was accomplished through volunteers who gave of their time, skills, and sweat equity. I can't wait for you to see it! It's simply beautiful!

We will have a lovely catered meal from a local Republican catering company that you'll be sure to enjoy.

Elephant Club memberships are $100. The member lunch price is $25 (first lunch for new members is free), and guests are $35. Reservations are full for August.

Meet the 2023 Republican Candidates

"Non-partisan" races are tricky. Party affiliation is not listed on the ballot. Finding out who the Republicans are can be difficult. To help all of you, and to make it easy to share, we have listed all of the Republican candidates on our website.

Each candidate can upload their photo and information so we can post them. In the meantime, their name and race are a placeholder. Just click on 2023 Candidates to view.

Candidate's Nest

The next Candidate's Nest event will be Tuesday, August 22nd. We will have videographers there to film you speaking. A simple one page website can be made for those who do not have one yet. Help with Numinar (see below) will also be available. This event is for candidates and their campaign managers only.

Numinar

If you plan to walk for candidates and have not yet downloaded Numinar, please do so here. A simple tutorial is available HERE. This will be the campaign app that we will use. We'll no longer be supporting i360 or Sidekick. You'll find Numinar is a superior product that uses the same data as previous RNC-approved applications.

Northwest Johnson County Republicans

Northwest Johnson County Republicans (NWJCR) is a PAC that exists to spread conservative Republican values in Shawnee, Lenexa and Desoto areas. They actively work to aid conservative Republican candidates in those same areas. They support conservative Republican candidates, even in non-partisan races like the current races. They endorse Dr. Mike Kemmling for Shawnee Mayor.
NWJCR typically meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month for dinner and presentation at Brewbakers on Renner Rd. in Lenexa. 6:00 for dinner and socializing with program at 7:00.
Note: Today, Saturday, August 12th, the NWJCR will host a picnic from 3-6pm at Eufurt Park. 24135 W 71st Street in Shawnee. Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson, as well as local candidates, will be in attendance.
Contact Jakob Patterson at 913-333-9669 for more information or visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/nwjcr.
