This Friday, May 14 is our annual Eagle Walk. This is a fundraiser where our students spend some time walking in support of our school. The preschool and elementary students will be walking around the JCS track and the middle school students will be walking to Rosewood Park. Each student will be collecting funds to support this event. If you would like to donate and haven't already been contacted by one of our students, you can mail a check (payable to JCS Parent Club) to the school office, or you can donate online by going to www.jcseaglewalk.org.

The Eagle Walk is one of Jenison Christian’s largest fundraisers. The money raised from this event is used in various ways including curriculum updates, teaching supplies and other needs that arise throughout the year. Through these monies we hope to ultimately raise our children to go out as we are called to Let Our Light Shine!

This year our goal is to raise $25,000 and anything raised over the goal will be put in the JCS Tuition Assistance Fund to help families in our school. If we reach this goal, Mr. Paauw and Miss Stob (Preschool Teacher) will be skydiving!

If you have a new student enrolled for next year (Pre-K/Kindergarten) there are documents that are required by the state for us to have on file BEFORE school starts this fall. Some of these documents require you to plan for in advance:
  • Green Health Form completed and signed by your doctor which needs to include the immunization record

  • Vision and Hearing Screening - Currently the Health Department has not set up testing dates/sites for these clinics. They are hoping to provide some this summer with first priority going to Kindergartners. Some doctors will perform these at your well child visit so be sure to ask your doctor. We will notify all incoming Kindergartners as soon as we find out if the Health Department will be offering these clinics this summer.

  • A copy of your child's Birth Certificate - Last year there was difficulty in getting these records from the County Clerk's office in a timely manner. If you don't already have a copy of your birth certificate, please be sure to place a request as soon as possible to allow time for processing!

Gift cards for Countryside Greenhouse are available in the school office. The cards are $50 each and a percentage of each card sold goes back to Jenison Christian.
Last week we held our annual Society Meeting. One order of business that takes place at this annual meeting is the selection/voting process for the new Board Members and JCS Parent Club Members.

This year the names were selected by lot and the members selected were:

Board: Tena Landers, Jon Rozema, Becky Nielsen (3 yr. terms)
(Lynn Bosscher will be serving a 2 yr. extension and Jayme DeYoung will be serving a 2nd - 3yr. term)

Parent Club: Lindsey Miedema (3yr. term), Marilynn Mesbergen (3yr. term), and Leah Dozeman (2yr. term, fulfilling the remainder of Jill Schepers term).

Thank you to all of those who were willing to have their names put on the "ballot" for these positions.

We would also like to thank the outgoing Parent Club Members (Jill Schepers, Lisa VanderSlik, and Lindsay Smith), and the outgoing Board Members (Dan VandenBerg, Jeana Duimstra, and Kellie Scholma). We know that behind the scenes there are countless hours dedicated to Jenison Christian School and we want you to know that this does not go unnoticed and we are so appreciative and thankful for each one of you!

2021-22 Calendar Correction *Please Note*
The calendar that was included with the enrollment packets just recently has an incorrect date on it. Please make note that the Elementary Christmas Program is actually Tuesday, December 14 and NOT December 13.
Unity Summer Sports Camps – Registration for Unity Christian Summer Sports Camps is now open! We offer summer camps for students ages 3 years to 12th grade in a variety of sports. To see details on the camps and how to sign up, please click here. Because our registration began later this year and some camps begin the week of June 14, we ask that you please register and pay by June 7.  Feel free to contact Unity’s Athletic Office at 669-1820 or athletics@unitychristian.org with any questions you may have!
Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (T.R.I.P.)
All orders MUST be preordered. TRIP has dwindled down its inventory and gift cards are now being ordered on an as needed basis. Pick ups will be offered ONLY on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:00 PM as volunteers and parents are not able to be in the school building during school hours. 

The order due and pick up dates through the end of the school year are as follows to help you plan accordingly:

Order by Tuesday, May 4 for pick up on Wednesday, May 12,
Order by Tuesday, May 25 for pick up on Wednesday, June 2.

If you have an online TRIP account, we would encourage you to order your TRIP cards via the online ordering system. If you don’t have an online TRIP account, please email your order to JCS Trip at trip@jenisonchristian.org and your money will be collected when you pick up your order.  As a reminder, we will NOT be able to fulfill any orders at pick up. ALL ORDERS ARE PREORDERED.
The 2021-22 Enrollment Transportation Letter has been emailed to all JCS families and includes sign-up information for both JCS and JPS busing. You may also find the information on our website:  https://www.jenisonchristian.org/admissions/transportation.cfm. (Click on 2021-22 Transportation Letter.)

  • ALL families (current and new) who reside OUTSIDE of the JPS district (JCS DEER and EAGLE buses) must submit busing enrollment information no later than June 1, 2021. 

  • All JPS busing requests/changes (RABBIT bus) must be submitted by June 25. If you live within a 1.2 mile radius of JCS, this is considered a parental-transportation zone and busing is not available for your family.

Upcoming Schedule: May 26 will be a half-day. The JCS DEER and EAGLE buses will provide both AM and NOON busing. The JPS RABBIT bus will provide only AM busing.  The JPS RABBIT bus will not provide busing home at NOON on May 26.
