FIRST Lego League Championships

This month we held two FIRST Lego League championships in Alaska, an Invitational in Anchorage and and an Open event in Fairbanks. The two teams representing Alaska at the FIRST Championship in Houston, TX on April 19-22 will be the "Brickmasters" from Anchorage and "Illuminati" from Barnette Magnet School in Fairbanks. The "Mooseketeers" from Bethel were the 2nd place Champion's Award winners at the Invitational Championship and will compete at the Open Championship at LEGOLAND California in Carlsbad, CA May 19-21. This is the first time a team from Bethel has been awarded a Champion's Award to advance to a competition down south.

Anchorage Championship

FIRST Lego league international robotics competition and celebration where teams win recognition, gain self confidence, develop people and life skills, make new friends, and perhaps discover an unforeseen career path. For students aged 6-18, it's the hardest fun you'll ever have.
Looking to Expand Your Business or Have a Business Idea that You Want to Make Happen?
If you have a project that will create or retain jobs in Southeast Alaska, Juneau Economic Development Council could be the lender you've been looking for. We are a non-profit financial institution created to fund development in Southeast Alaska. It is often very difficult for new businesses and businesses in depressed industries to get the financing they need to get started and so Juneau Economic Development Council launched the Southeast Alaska Revolving Loan Fund in 1997 to bridge the gap between what banks will finance and what the business community needs.  Our goal is to provide financing for viable projects that will create and retain quality jobs and help to diversify local economies in Southeast Alaska. JEDC operates a community-based loan fund and one region wide loan program that serves smaller communities throughout Southeast Alaska. Economic Indicator: 2016 Was a "Seller's" Real Estate Market in Juneau

Juneau continued to have a strong "seller's" market for homes in 2016, where demand is larger than the supply. The past two years have seen larger homes coming on the market as retirees downsize into condos or leave town. Families in starter homes have been able to move up to the larger homes, and renters have been moving into the starter homes.
