Riverview Senior Living: NOW OPEN

Picture by: Clarise Larson / Juneau Empire

Introducing Riverview Senior Living. Situated alongside the tranquil Mendenhall River in Vintage Business Park and surrounded by picturesque local trails, Riverview is the perfect place for seniors to call home.

With 58 assisted living apartments and 29 memory care units, Riverview provides a range of living options to meet the unique needs of its residents. Since its opening on May 15th, the facility has welcomed its first resident and continues to welcome new residents on a weekly basis. In fact, Riverview has scheduled move-ins for the next few months, aiming to reach an occupancy rate of 70% or higher by the end of the year.

According to Carrie Pusich, the Community Relations Director at Riverview, the residents are thoroughly enjoying their new home and the opportunity to connect with one another. Mealtime in the dining room has become a favorite social gathering, where residents are able to bond and share stories over delicious food prepared for them. The activities offered at Riverview are also keeping residents engaged and entertained. From Friday afternoon Happy Hour with live entertainment to outings at the State Museum, there is always something exciting happening at the facility.

One of the highlights of Riverview's recent events was the 1st Annual Riverview Market, held on Saturday, July 22nd. The market featured local artists and crafters, as well as a few senior services organizations. The event was a huge success, attracting a large number of visitors who came to explore the market and take a peek inside Riverview. It provided an excellent opportunity for the community to come together and showcase the vibrant atmosphere of the facility.

Downtown Business Association

In March 1937, the Alaska Electric Light and Power Company opened its new building at Second and Franklin Streets in downtown Juneau. The stylistic Art Deco structure, which later housed the Juneau Empire for a decade, has since been brought back to life by Amalga Distillery, beginning in 2015.

The Downtown Business Association (DBA) is proud to partner with Laurie, a local artist, advocate, and avid researcher of Juneau's historical treasures, to bring you "Rooted in Community", a series of short articles, published in the Empire on the third weekend of each month, focusing on unique buildings in Juneau’s Downtown Historic District and the present-day businesses (and people) that occupy them.
