At this time of year, we are all in a mode of transition — beach days to school days; sandals to boots; even the hot summer sun to the cleansing feeling of the cool autumn air… New Beginnings. At JFCS, we are always working to help people find their healthier and more self-sufficient “new beginnings.”

It may be a single parent engaging in Re-launch to find new or better employment; it may be an adult choosing psychotherapy to overcome the suffering from childhood trauma; it may be a senior receiving the warmth of a new care manager who has arranged home care and the delivery of kosher meals on wheels. In all of our areas of service, JFCS provides a new beginning of safety and security.

From my family to yours, from my heart to yours, I wish you and all our clients a healthy, happy and sweet new beginning.

Shana Tova,

JFCS Engages with Local and National Legislators
Within the past month, JFCS had the honor of hosting two special events in our Teaneck headquarters.

On August 29th, Bergen County Commissioner Tracy Zur used the Corner Market Food Pantry as the backdrop to a video on food insecurity in Northern NJ. The visit was organized by Jewish Federation of Northern NJ. As the leader of the Bergen County Food Security Task Force, Commissioner Zur and JFNNJ join with JFCS in the fight against hunger.

Representative Josh Gottheimer, Assemblywoman Lisa Swain, and staff from the offices of Senators Booker and Menendez toured our facility on September 8th. Led by JFNNJ, all participants engaged in a meaningful discussion on how we can better work together to help those who struggle within our community.

We look forward to our continued partnership with these local and national public officeholders who value and want to support the work that JFCS does every day.
Back to School With JFCS
The JFCS Corner Market Food Pantry does more than just distribute food to those in need. JFCS is thrilled to have been able to provide school backpacks filled with supplies to children throughout Northern NJ so they can be prepared for this school year. With this one, big expense out of the way, children can feel confident in the classroom and focus on their education.

This fresh start would not have been possible without the support of Jewish Federation of Northern NJ which provided the materials. Whether it's school bags, clothing, food or toys, JFCS’s donors and dedicated staff always strive to ensure that the area’s children have what they need to live healthy and productive lives.
