We all have moments in our lives when we need help. It could be as simple as needing a babysitter for a night or as complex as needing help paying your rent. Many among us know what it feels like when you cannot get by without the help of others. It can be awkward and embarrassing to seek assistance, and it can often give a person an uncomfortable sense of being indebted to the person who helped them.

JFCS is dedicated to being the helping hand our community needs when it matters most, without shame or judgment. This is done in part through our comprehensive case management services. When it comes to your basic needs, you should not have to struggle to have them met. We help our clients access public benefits (e.g. SNAP/food stamps), connect them to community resources (e.g. transportation), advocate on their behalf (e.g. support through complicated legal processes), and provide guidance when it comes to housing (e.g. applying for affordable housing options). Many people struggle with accessing basic things in life that most take for granted, and it is our goal to help them find the resources and the strength to improve their lives.

We recently helped a single mother who has a daughter with special needs. They are American citizens who live in Israel but came back to the States when the young girl's school was shut down due to the war. When they came to JFCS, they needed a lot of help. This family's living arrangements fell apart when one of the relatives they were supposed to stay with became sick and could no longer host them. When JFCS assisted them in finding affordable temporary housing, they were overjoyed. Our next steps were helping coordinate the special educational and medical services her daughter needed and giving her access to our Corner Market Kosher Food Pantry. Coming from Israel in a rush, they did not have the proper garments for winter in Northern NJ, so we helped them get winter clothes so they could be safe and warm during the upcoming cold season.

JFCS cares, and we are invested in the health and well-being of each individual and family who needs us.

Dear Friends,

At JFCS, our staff and leadership teams are ending 2023 with an enormous sense of satisfaction and pride for all we have accomplished this year – all of the children, families, adults, and seniors whose lives have improved in innumerable ways because we have had the honor to work with them.

I want to thank all our donors and volunteers from the bottom of my heart for enabling us to attain our life-changing goals for thousands of our neighbors, family, and friends.

May 2024 bring us all peace.

May we go from strength to strength.

With gratitude,

Susan
