The older adults in our community face several challenges that require specialized support. While these essential services are crucial for ensuring they can live safely and with dignity at home, the cost can be significant. Unfortunately, many seniors also struggle to find the resources available to help them. Although there are government programs and local organizations that offer valuable assistance, accessing these benefits is often complicated and the enrollment process can be overwhelming.

At JFCS, we prioritize our care management services, which are designed to be a crucial support system for older adults in need. Each client is assigned a dedicated care manager who conducts a comprehensive assessment to evaluate their current condition, identify existing resources, and determine which benefits they may not yet be receiving. In some cases, seniors may remain under our care for months as we guide them through the process of accessing and enrolling in services that will enhance their quality of life. Whether it's for a few weeks or several months, our team is committed to ensuring that our clients are able to live with dignity, even while homebound

We recently assisted a 60-year-old woman who was disabled, living alone, and had no family or friends nearby to care for her (her emergency contact lives in another state). She had undergone multiple surgeries and had many chronic conditions, such as hypertension and arthritis. Activities like bathing, dressing, meal preparation, laundry, and housekeeping were nearly impossible, leaving her and her home in a state of chaos. When she turned to JFCS for help, her care manager immediately sprang into action, reviewing all available options to improve her situation. With the help of her care manager, she applied for the JACC program (a New Jersey state program that provides home health aides) and a Medicare prescription subsidy (which lowers the cost of prescriptions), both of which brought major relief. The client expressed deep gratitude for our help in securing these services that she desperately needed.

JFCS remains deeply committed to assisting every homebound older adult in our community receive the care and support they deserve.
