FAMILY SERVICES FOR ALL

JFS Retrospectives

Retrospectives are ways of analyzing the present in relation to the past. Over the next several weeks, until the end of year, we want to remember, reflect, and review the impact together we have made for our community. Based upon our Jewish values, our mission is to provide services for all.

So, watch out for more JFS Retrospectives to come.

REFUGEE SERVICES

JFS has a long history of advocating for and assisting newcomers to America as they build new lives and raise their families in Delaware. Through intensive, culturally sensitive case management, we help all varieties of immigrants make Delaware their home, obtain and retain employment, and establish healthy lifestyles and relationships to achieve self-sufficiency.

Through our Refugee Integration Support Effort (RISE), we have served over 300 refugees from 13 different countries this year.

Continue reading below to hear from Gerald, a refugee from Haiti who came to the United States with his wife and two children.

Gerald

"I can't stay in Haiti. I came to the United States to save my life. In the future I want to go back to Haiti, but for now I stay here.. Now I'm studying Computer Science Engineering online at Colorado University. And after my bachelor's I want to get my doctorate."

Gerald was forced to flee his home country of Haiti with his wife and two children. Watch the video to learn more about Gerald and hear his story.

Did You Know?

The JFS Food Pantry is available to all JFS clients. It is often the first port of call to provide food for when new refugee families first arrive and during their first ninety days before receiving benefits. So far this year, almost 100 families have benefitted from the Food Pantry.

Additionally, those at JFS who organize the pantry collect more than just food. They also collect items, such as Depends, for the senior adult B'nai Brith House Community and for those needing personal hygiene items.

We cannot provide for the community without the help of so many. Thank you for the donations you give.

We're always in need of more donations, so if you're in a position to help our clients, please consider a donation to the JFS pantry! Click here for a list of needed items.

Donations can be dropped off at JFS or ordered through Amazon and shipped directly to JFS.
