Jewish Family Services of Greenwich is proud to announce that Chief Executive Officer Rachel Kornfeld, LCSW, SBL, was selected as one of only two recipients of the prestigious Lee Barnes Memorial Scholarship for Nonprofit Leaders in Connecticut. It enabled her to attend the Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management program at Harvard Business School Executive Education, an internationally recognized leadership program for senior nonprofit executives.
The Lee Barnes Memorial Scholarship recognizes nonprofit leaders who demonstrate exceptional promise and a deep commitment to strengthening their organizations and communities. During the intensive six-day program, Rachel joined 172 nonprofit executives from around the world to explore leadership, system theory, strategy, financial sustainability, and organizational excellence.
The scholarship was made possible through the generosity of the Harvard Business School (HBS) Club of Connecticut Community Partners. Over the past year, Community Partners helped JFS through a strategic planning initiative that challenged assumptions, strengthened organizational strategy, and helped position the agency for continued growth and long-term sustainability.
"The experience was a powerful reminder that leadership is never a destination. It requires the humility to continually challenge your own thinking, learn from others, and return home ready to serve at a higher level," said Rachel. "I am deeply grateful to the HBS Club of Connecticut Community Partners and the Lee Barnes Memorial Scholarship Committee for their confidence in me and for making this opportunity possible. Spending six days immersed in the extraordinary rigor of Harvard Business School, surrounded by nonprofit leaders from around the world, was inspiring. I return to JFS with new ideas, meaningful relationships, and an even greater responsibility to use them in service of the individuals, families, and communities who place their trust in us."
