Miracles and light surround us during the holiday season. Some people celebrate the big miracles of the season – like the burning of oil for eight nights when it was meant to last only one. Others rejoice in the daily miracles that bless our lives – like beating rush-hour traffic, a stranger paying for your coffee, meaningful advice from a therapist, passing a tough exam, making a new friend, or simply having food on the table. For many, it is also a holiday custom to create miracles for those in need, through acts of kindness and generosity.
JFS is here to support the most vulnerable, and we hope – for the holidays – you will join us in helping our clients in need. Whether you light a Hanukkah menorah, illuminate a Christmas tree, or burn candles for Kwanzaa, please consider shedding some light in our community with a donation to JFS’ Friends Campaign. Your gift will ensure that JFS remains strong for many generations to come, making miracles and serving those who need us most.
Something powerful – and miraculous – happens when communities come together. Thank you for supporting JFS this holiday season.
May your hearts be filled with joy and your nights be filled with light. Happy Holidays!

Delaware Congressional Delegation Celebrates Increased Federal Funding For Mental Health Fellowship Program
|
U.S. Senators Chris Coons and Tom Carper and U.S. Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester (all D-Del.) joined leaders of Jewish Family Services Delaware (JFS) and counselors-in-training for a press conference at the Jewish Community Center to celebrate $3.5 million in federal funding to help those counseling fellows achieve their licensing so they can work in the First State.
The $3.5 million for JFS is the second-largest amount of congressional funding secured for a program in Delaware this year. Monday’s event celebrated the launch of the Mental Health Fellowship Program, which got underway in part thanks to these funds. It also provided an opportunity to showcase some of the fellows currently receiving their training.

A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to our JFS volunteers! JFS has been assisting families every year in our Holiday Helpers program! Our volunteers put together over 92 bags to help alleviate holiday stressors and maintain financial stability for our clients.
These bags go to families who receive services from JFS throughout the year. Counselors and program leaders choose clients specifically based on their need. The bags contain donations from our volunteers and community of gift cards, blankets, games, puzzles, hats, gloves, scarves, fuzzy socks, pajamas for the children, and other holiday goodies!
