FAMILY SERVICES FOR ALL

JFS Retrospectives

Retrospectives are ways of analyzing the present in relation to the past. Over the next several weeks, until the end of year, we want to remember, reflect, and review the impact together we have made for our community. Based upon our Jewish values, our mission is to provide services for all.

So, watch out for more JFS Retrospectives to come.

Promoting Safe and Stable Housing (PSSF)

Meet Ann (name changed for privacy purposes). Ann came to JFS as a determined single mother who had been facing financial hardships and unemployment when she signed up for the PSSF program. She was struggling to provide for her child's basic needs and felt a sense of hopelessness because she didn't know where to turn to and how she could get help.

Ann learned about JFS from a friend. With the assistance of the program's Family Consultant, she received guidance and support to enhance her skills and develop a strong resume. Through case management, she was equipped with newfound confidence and qualifications and successfully secured a job in her chosen field. The JFS Consultant recognized Ann's challenges as a mother and her need for food and supplies for her child. Ann was set up with the JFS Food Pantry and learned about nutrition. Presently, Ann remains stable in her employment which has also brought stability to her life.

JFS is committed to strengthening and empowering families in crisis or transition. Our Family Consultant helps families identify support systems and develop action plans to reach critical personal goals. PSSF serves parents, caretakers, and/or foster parents with children under 18 years of age.

We offer the following:

Family Case Management - create family goals and learn the skills and knowledge to successfully complete them.

Wellness Resources and Service Referrals - connections to housing to employment to mental health and beyond.

Food Assistance - assistance with applying for SNAP and other state or federal benefits.
