Let us run with endurance the race set before us,
fixing our eyes on Jesus
who is the author and finisher of our faith.

SO FAR SO GOOD, KEEP IT UP - Thank you for erring on the side of caution and keeping your children home when they are not feeling well and for taking them to the doctor. We did have one case of strep this past week and several negative strep and covid tests. Symptoms children have been experiencing are sore throat, fever, cough, and stomach ache. We ask you to continue to err on the side of caution. We will continue to remind children to cover their coughs, wash their hands, and tell teachers and parents if they are not feeling well. School staff will continue to clean and sanitize regularly.

SCHOOL PICTURE DAY - Picture day is Wednesday, September 29th. Here is the link from Strawbridge. This link will allow parents to sign up to receive updates via email regarding their child's school portraits. These updates include promotions, additional deals and the ability to order more pictures at a later time. When entering student information, parents should be sure to enter the student's name as it is on file at the school.

PARENTS' NIGHT - The evening of Thursday, September 30th we are inviting all parents of children in K-6 to come to school for a visit. There will be a short informational meeting in the social hall for all parents, and then you can head to the classrooms to hear more from the teachers. Please mark your calendars and we hope you are able to attend. More details in future newsletters.

MARATHON and MARATHON MONDAYS - Please look in this week's Friday Folder for more information. Marathon Mondays begin on Monday, September 20th. What does that mean? Students show their school spirit by wearing their JI gear or green. Any money collected should also be brought to school on Mondays. These will be counting days to see if we have reached any goals. See below for list of goals.

TRUNK OR TREAT - Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 30th! We will hold our annual Trunk or Treat event on
Blessings to you!

Introducing our newest program, Booking with a Buddy! This reading enrichment program will encourage new and emerging readers to do exactly that … READ! Booking with a Buddy offers a fun and interactive experience for children of all reading abilities entering first through third grade in the fall. Little buddies are paired with a junior high, high school, or adult volunteer for monthly visits at the library. During that time, buddies not only read together but participate in early literacy games and activities that inspire reading success and confidence.

Big Partner, Little Partner Program

Big Partner, Little Partner (BPLP) is a mentorship program that pairs Gustavus students with youth from St. Peter and the surrounding communities. Our program aims to foster friendship and personal growth. BPLP pairs typically meet 3-4 times per month for about an hour. The time and day they meet is determined by the schedule of the Big Partner (Gustie) and the Little Partner (youth). BPLP is a great way for Gusties and youth to connect through fun activities and grow social-emotional skills.

Application - Due by September 27th
