Carne Deputy Director - Jermyn Street Theatre

We are looking for a director for 'A Place for Me?', a new play by Anne Odeke, co-produced by Havering Changing.

'A Place for Me?' is a family play with songs that celebrates the Windrush Community and their connection with Essex. Not everyone is aware that HMT Windrush docked at Tilbury in 1948. This means that for many arriving from the Commonwealth both then and for many years after, their first touch of English soil was 'Essex soil'. It is well documented that many arrivals went on to work in London, Liverpool, Southampton - big cities, but what of those that chose to stay where they first arrived? What of those that stayed in Essex?

The production will open and perform at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch for 1 week before embarking on a small-scale community tour in and around the London Borough of Havering.

Key Dates:

White card - Mon 9 or Tue 10 September 2024

Final model - Tue 24 September 2024

Press night - Thurs 31 October 2024
