21ST CENTURY PERSPECTIVES
ATLANTA, GA. –November 1, 2022. The Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary (JCSTS) Costen Institute will host a November 14-16. 2022, virtual symposium, The State of Music in the Black Church; 21st Century Perspectives. This three (3) day conversation symposium establishes The Costen Institute branded perspective on the value of traditional music in Black Church Worship.
The goal of this conversation is 3-fold:
· Assessing the current state of Black Church Music
· Advocating for the Roots and the Future of the Fruits
· Networking Resources for Worship Leadership and Preparation.
“This Costen Symposium is designed to serve as a conduit for those inspired by music in the Black church,” says JCSTS President Paul Roberts. “The intention is fostering Cohort Relationships and Worship Resource Networks with and among those who gather.”
Featured presenters of this symposium are: Ouida Harding, Adrienne Hardy, Patrick Alston, Scott Cumberbatch, Richard Clemmons, Keri Strother, and Warren Cooper.
