Happy Weekend Cardinal Family!
On one hand, it seemed like these last two weeks have flown by, and on the other, it felt like summer was ages ago! I hope you and your family are adjusting well and settling into the new school year routines.
One of the highlights of these first days for me was getting to serve on our Freshman Retreat last week. There is no denying the value in the wisdom and faith that young people glean from parents, mentors, teachers, pastors, and those who have a few more life experiences to their name. But there is something unique and irreplaceable when upperclassmen who love Jesus share that love with other students on campus, especially the freshmen. The juniors and seniors on the retreat team lead with vulnerability, patience, and undeniable joy.
For me, the most impactful moment happened during praise and worship and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Students were invited to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and without hesitation, no fewer than 60 students immediately stood up to get in line. My jaw actually dropped. I cannot think of a better way to embark on a new school year than a refreshed soul with receptivity to the gifts and graces of the Holy Spirit.
To our parents and guardians: thank you for entrusting your children to our care each day. It is a responsibility we don’t take lightly, and I have no doubts you got that same impression from each one of the educators you encountered at Meet the Teacher earlier this week. We are proud to partner with you in the full formation of our students’ minds, bodies, and spirits.
Praying for all of you!
