FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL PRAYER
When does my child need JPII Spirit Wear?
One day each month—usually the first Friday (See School Calendar) students, faculty and staff enjoy a spirit wear and blue denim day. The St. John Paul II Catholic School spirit wear t-shirts that have been purchased through St. John Paul II Catholic School may be worn on these designated days with blue denim. During cold weather a long sleeve uniform shirt or long sleeve white or navy t-shirt can be worn underneath the St. John Paul II Catholic School spirit wear shirt. The denim “bottoms” may be jeans or capris, shorts, skorts or skirts. The denim must be neat in appearance, free from frays, rips, or holes. Jeggings (jean leggings) are not to be worn. Striped pants from previous JPII spirit wear order are allowed.
  • Spirit wear days are designed to instill school spirit and a feeling of unity. Therefore, non-uniform passes cannot be used on Spirit Wear Days.
  • Students can be completely in uniform on Spirit Wear Days.
  • Students may choose to wear uniform “bottoms” on Spirit Wear Days instead of blue denim.
  • Spirit wear t-shirts must be purchased through St. John Paul II Catholic School spirit wear order.
  • Athletic or JPII Team Shirts (typically with a number on the back) are not considered spirit wear for Spirit Wear/Blue Denim Days.
  • Shirts purchased through the JPII Athletic Fan Wear Store are not considered spirit wear for Spirit Wear/Blue Denim Days.

JPII DISMISSAL INFORMATION 2023-24
Please share the following information with anyone that will be picking up your child:

The playground will open at 2:25 p.m. for pick-up of car riders.  Adults picking up students in grades K-5 who arrive before the playground/parking lot is open that want to enter the playground area for pick up at 2:25 must park and wait in the Activity Center Parking Lot. The playground parking lot closes at 2:40.

NEW THIS YEAR: The parking lot by Building C (The middle school building) is reserved for vehicles of those picking up middle school students. Adults picking up students in both K-5 and 6-8 may park in either lot.

Please do not line up on Scheller Ave to wait to enter the playground. This causes traffic to back up onto Utica Street and potentially blocks the intersection of Utica Street Hwy 31.

Please be considerate of our neighbors and do not park on Scheller Ave to pick up your child.
The playground parking lot is a congested area. If able, adults picking up students are encouraged to park in either the Building C (former church) Lot (if picking up a student in grades 6-8) or the white lined spaces in the Activity Center parking lot (if picking up a student in grades K-5) and walk to the playground area to pick up your child.
The entrance to the playground parking lot closes at 2:40 p.m. and will not reopen to ensure one-way traffic out of the parking lot for the safety of the students and staff

STAGGERED DISMISSAL TIMES
1. Building A (K and 1)
Kindergarten will leave their classrooms first. (Meeting parents at the pick up area at the end of the sidewalk along the mulch playground along Highway 31 at 2:30)

3. Building C (Grades 6-8)
Middle School Classes stagger their exit at Door C3 (Door with the ramp)of Building C at 2:40.
Middle school parents who are also picking up a K-5 student must pick up the K-5 student first, then walk behind the parked cars to Building C to pick up their middle school student(s). Middle school students will not be allowed to walk through the parked cars to a waiting parent.

4.  For All Grades:
Parents must park and walk up to obtain the children from the teachers.
Please stand close to the yellow lines to be free of the traffic that is departing.
Help dismissal run smoothly by returning promptly with your children to the vehicle. Use extreme caution.

5.  For Grades K-5 Exiting the Playground/Parking Lot
Vehicles leave in single file onto the highway.
Turn right only when departing on Hwy 31.

6. The playground must be cleared of vehicles as quickly as possible to enable after-care children to cross over to Father Gootee Hall. We must have your cooperation. Safety of the children is always our first priority.

7. Both playground areas will be closed. Once students are released to parents, all persons will need to proceed to their cars to exit the parking areas.

8. Anytime there is a change in a student’s dismissal procedure we MUST have an email from a parent giving specific information before we will release the child.

9. Anyone picking up a child may be asked to provide identification.

9. JPII Dismissal is a pet-free area.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation with the new dismissal procedures!

SAFE PARISH TRAINING
REQUIRED BY ALL VOLUNTEERS WHO PARTICIPATE IN SCHOOL ACTIVITIES.
THIS INCLUDES FIELD TRIPS AND CLASSROOM HOLIDAY PARTIES.
We recommend that all parents take this training! You never know when an opportunity to participate in a school activity will present itself.

SAFE PARISH TRAINING
In compliance with Archdiocesan policy, all paid faculty and staff, youth ministers, volunteers, field trip chaperones, coaches, and other adults who work with children, are required to complete Safe Parish Training. The training is a forty-five minute on-line program designed to assist adults in protecting all children from harm, particularly from sexual predators. A background check of all those completing the training will be generated. It takes approximately TWO WEEKS for clearance to be granted by the Indianapolis Archdiocese.
This process must be completed prior to volunteering at the school.
Please understand it takes over two weeks for the Archdiocese to approve once training and background check is completed
