HOW CAN I HELP?
"How can I help?" is a question that I am often asked. Several families have reached out over the course of the past two years asking how they can help the school financially. They have been prompted to ask this due to the fact that since the expansion of the Indiana Choice Scholarship program the amount they are paying in tuition has greatly decreased.

Our school is blessed to be in a financial position where our families are not overburdened with fundraisers. The fundraisers we do have go to daily operations and to offset the cost of tuition. The school leadership made the conscience effort many years ago to be intentional about what fundraisers we have, and to eliminate the students selling anything. The fundraisers that we kept were the Walk-A-Thon (fun for all ages) and the Saturday Knight Live event (fun for the adults)! Your generous donations helped us raise over $17,000 this year!

Planning is well underway for Saturday Knight Live which we will host at Hubers on Saturday, February 10, 2024. We encourage all of our families to mark the calendar and secure your babysitter ASAP. (The good ones get booked quickly for that night!) The theme this year is a decades theme. 100% Poly will be providing the music from the 70s, 80s, and today. So come join us at SATURDAY KNIGHT LIVE:THE ERAS EVENT. (Sorry T Swift. We couldn't resist.)

Please take a moment below to see some of the tasks/areas that we could use your help for this fun event. If you would like to share your time and talent in one of the following ways, please come to our SKL Planning Meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27th!

-Silent Auction Team: Persons to make phone calls to follow up on those that donated to silent auction previously, help with silent auction display frames, etc. Persons to pick up silent auction items that are donated.
-Sponsor Team: Persons to mail, email, call, and "in person" contact previous and NEW sponsors for their commitment, logos, etc.
-Live Auction Team: Persons responsible for generating ideas and securing donations for 6-8 Live Auction items and securing the items
-Raffle Team: Persons responsible for generating ideas and securing donations for two raffles valued at $2000-$2500 each
-Media Team: Persons to create flyers, social media posts/videos, QR Codes, etc. to generate excitement. Persons to design donation request letters, invitations, programs, and thank you notes.
-Decor Team: Photo Booth Props, Small Table Items, Framed Photos, Give-Aways, etc.
-VIP Table Team: Generate Ideas and Secure donations for the lucky 8 persons that will be top bidder on the VIP Table

If you have questions about any of the tasks/positions above, please feel free to email me and I can give you more information. Grab a friend, find an area to help, and come get involved in this fun event!

New to the JPII Family!
Ms. Melissa Vasquez
I am Melissa Vasquez and I am happy to be part of the JPII family as the Middle School Receptionist/ Assistant.

I am a proud Mom of a 19 year old son Francisco, who plans to join the Marines next year; and a 14 year daughter, Natalia, who is in 8th grade at JPII.

I am from Guatemala and moved to the USA 15 years ago. I think the USA was meant to be a part of my life, since I was born on July 4th! We live in Charlestown and we are very thankful God led us to JPII. We found an awesome community, school, Parish and friends.

God bless you all.

Ms. Catherine Sellmer
My name is Catherine Sellmer! I am a 2023 IUPUI psychology graduate and an incoming Master of Social Work Student at the UofL Kent School of Social Work, with a focus in Mental Health Social Work. I am a graduate of St John Paul II, and had a goal of giving back to current students since my teachers made such a positive impact on me. I am looking forward to starting this new adventure as a middle school classroom assistant.

Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences

First Quarter Conferences are October 3, 4, and 5. Conferences are fifteen minute sessions to discuss the progress of each child and answer any questions parents/guardians may have. All students are required to attend their conference with their parent/guardian.

We will be sending the link to sign up for conferences via School Messenger email on Thursday, September 7. Please make sure to pick a different conference time for each of your children. There will be 2 links sent: One link is for K-5 and the other is for Middle School. For Middle School, you do not need to sign up to visit every teacher for every subject; you only need to sign up for the teacher/subject you would like to conference about.

Sign Ups will close on September 14th. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at conferences!
