Community Outreach Updates

10th Annual Healthy Lives Matter Prostate Screening Event

On February 24, JPS team members participated in a prostate screening event hosted by Commissioner Roy Charles Brooks. The event provided men and their families with health resources, support services, and education on early cancer detection. The event also provided an opportunity for men to receive free prostate exams, made possible by the partnership with JPS Health Network and Moncrief Cancer Institute.

Community Health Fair

The Hispanic Wellness Coalition expanded its services to residents in Arlington and surrounding areas. The purpose of this event was to provide health resources to Asian residents and community members. On February 24, JPS was on site to provide resources, health education, and information on JPS programs and services. JPS is happy to continue to help support communities in need.

Thank you, JPS team members, for your dedication to Tarrant County.

Gearing Up for Black Maternal Health Week

Working Together to Reduce Black Maternal Mortality

Black Maternal Health Week is recognized each year from April 11-17 to bring attention and action to improving Black maternal health. Everyone can play a role in working to prevent pregnancy-related deaths and improve maternal health outcomes. Below are helpful tips outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for those who are expecting.

  • Talk to a healthcare provider if anything doesn’t feel right or is concerning.
  • Seek immediate care if you experience any of the following: severe headache, extreme swelling of hands or face, trouble breathing, heavy vaginal bleeding or discharge, overwhelming tiredness, and more.
  • Connect with healthcare and social support systems before, during, and after pregnancy. Download the Parent Pass app below for resources.
