Community Outreach Updates

Lung Cancer Awarness Month

In observance of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, JPS hosted a Lung Cancer screening and education event on November 9. JPS team members along with Tarrant County Public Health educated on the importance of lung cancer screening and treatment and provided smoking cessation resources. Onsite screenings were also available to patients.

Feast of Sharing

On November 6, JPS Community Outreach teams participated in Central Market's 12th Annual Feast of Sharing event. JPS teams provided valuable information on JPS programs and services as they prepare for the holidays providing much-needed support to members of our community.

Thank you, JPS team members, for your dedication to Tarrant County.

Psychiatric Emergency Center

At the Psychiatric Emergency Center, teams are working hard to ensure the building resists all weather conditions! Drywall and tile backer have been installed to reduce moisture within the foundation of the building. The Psychiatric Emergency Center is expected to open in Summer 2025.

What is QPR?

The QPR Institute’s mission is to save lives and reduce suicidal behaviors by providing innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training. We believe that quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know.

What is a QPR Gatekeeper?

A gatekeeper is someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide. QPR Gatekeepers can be anyone but include:

  • Parents
  • Teachers
  • Ministers
  • Youth
  • Doctors
  • First Responders
  • Mental Health Professionals
  • And YOU!

As a Certified Gatekeeper, you will learn to:

  3. Know how to offer hope
  4. Know how to access local and national referral resources
