Groundbreaking Collaboration

On Tuesday, November 14, JPS leaders stood with our partners from Cook Children’s Health Care System, the City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, LVTRise, and WestAid Community Resources to break ground on the Las Vegas Trail Neighborhood Health Center. The partnership between JPS Health Network and Cook Children’s Medical Center aims to provide exceptional, comprehensive care for the entire family.

The two-story, 40,000-square-foot Las Vegas Trail Neighborhood Health Center will open in late 2025 at the corner of Calmont Avenue and Cherry Lane in west Fort Worth. The center will be the first of its kind. Cook Children’s will provide pediatric medical care, while JPS will provide adult care. Social services, behavioral health, a Fort Worth Police storefront, and WestAid Community Resources’ food pantry will also be housed within the facility.

This partnership will allow JPS to continue to expand further into the community and provide healthcare services to the patients who need us. The collaboration also offers an opportunity to demonstrate the significance of healthcare in Tarrant County and how these healthcare entities are working together to create a framework for better healthcare delivery and access.

As we continue to find creative and innovative ways to expand the JPS footprint in our community, we will keep you all updated so that we can celebrate these wins together.

Wishing you all a very happy Thanksgiving holiday,

Thank you JPS Team Members for your dedication to the Tarrant County Community!

Plant-Based Nutrition: Keeping Our Community Healthy

JPS Lifestyle Medicine Resident Physicians host quarterly healthy eating and cooking classes. These classes are designed to teach the importance of incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables into the diet, preparing healthy meals on a budget, and foods that aid in maintaining overall health. Participants are provided with nutrition education and are shown how to prepare meals in real time. The October class focused on plant-based eating and weight management.

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for both men and women.

Cigarette smoking is the top risk factor for lung cancer, with the Centers for

Disease Control estimating more than 80% of all cases are caused by tobacco use. In observance of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, JPS teamed up with Moncrief Cancer Institute to host a Lung Cancer Awareness Lunch and Learn. JPS physicians along with Moncrief Cancer Institute educated on the importance of lung cancer screening and treatment.

Tarrant County Public Health also provided smoking cessation resources. We are happy to introduce the JPS speakers.
