CDC recommends that people ages 5 years and older get one updated (bivalent) booster that protects against the original COVID-19 variant and the new variants if it has been at least two months since their last COVID-19 vaccine dose.

People who have gotten more than one original (monovalent) booster that only protects against the original COVID-19 variant are also recommended to get an updated (bivalent) booster to get protection from new variants also.
