Breast cancer is an issue that has affected family and friends of many at JRC. Our students feel strongly that they want to support the work of the American Cancer Society, so again this year during Breast Cancer month, they worked hard on a fundraising bake sale, and then also participated in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Providence. Their efforts raised over $2700 between the bake sale and the walk, to help fight breast cancer!
Bake Sale Fun
Preparing the Goodies
Students did a stellar job preparing the treats to sell, like puff pastries which are a popular choice.
Here, Mike is cutting the pastries, sprinkling them with sugar and cinnamon, and folding them into pinwheels.
Jonathan concentrated hard on slicing and packaging the pies.
Gabe and Erid wrapped the cookies.
Time for the Sale!
Students shared different tasks to decorate the tables and display the treats to be sold.
Laura's job was to greet the staff and students as they came to the Whimsy Room to choose their baked goods.
Josh mans the cashbox.
Genesis is happy with her choice of a chocolate chip cookie.
Time to Walk!
Enjoying the Day
Students had a great time at the Providence Making Strides Against Cancer Walk. Courtney had a big smile as she walked.
