"Reconciliation, Restorative Action, and Right Relationship"

with Rev. Kerri Parker, Susan Podebradsky, and Genevieve McPherson-Shambarger

Rev. Kerri Parker will join us to share unsettling and healing stories: stories of colonization and disruption, paired with questions and actions that can lead us toward healing.  She will offer the reflection during the service, and afterwards lead a workshop for us on developing meaningful land acknowledgments.  The workshop is designed to be both informative and conversational, so please come with your questions.

The Hub is devoted to incubating, accelerating, and networking Black and other BIPOC entrepreneurs. It will be a state of the art building in south Madison led by Black business owners and entrepreneurs.

Check-in question: In today’s world, what do you feel called to resist?

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

-- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Interested in playing or singing in an informal, just-for-fun folk group?

We will get together at church once a month or so and play what we please (and maybe sometimes play at a service!). Once we know who's in, we can figure out a day and time to meet. Please contact Mike if you're interested.

Want to be in our Members and Friends Directory?

The JRUUC Directory is being updated.  If you are not currently listed and would like to have your contact information in the directory, please contact office@jruuc.org with your name, address, phone number, and email address.  Note that the directory is shared only with people listed in it.

Staffing Update

We’ve hired an Office Administrator!  Her name is Madeline Reyes, and you’ll find an introduction from her in next week’s email.  And we’ve had some applicants for the Music Director position, and the Search Team will be conducting interviews over the next couple of weeks!

Join Your Worship and Music Team!

We are continually looking for people to serve as Worship Associates and Tech Wizards. We’ve simplified zoom hosting and it is now done in the sanctuary, along with audio-visual work! Please email Rev. Karen with your interest or questions.

What's Happening In Unitarian Universalism

General Assembly is the annual gathering of Unitarian Universalists, where we conduct business of the Association, explore the theological underpinnings of our faith, and lean fully into our mission and principles. This is a great year to go, especially for first-timers! There will be exciting work done on the process of revising Article II of our Bylaws, worship is always wonderful, and it’s an amazing experience to be surrounded by thousands of UUs. Early bird registration ends on February 28, and there are many opportunities for financial support. Follow these links for general information, volunteer opportunities, other financial support, registration, and housing reservations.

The General Assembly and Conference Services Team leads the initiative to ensure that diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) are woven throughout, from planning to fruition. You’re invited to watch this video about historical trauma and transformative healing, which is informing our work.
