The Jesuit Schools Network Conference Office wishes you a blessed, hope-filled Advent and Christmas.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
The Jesuit Schools Network traces its history to 1936 when Jesuit high schools in the US were members of the Jesuit Educational Association. In 1970 the high schools formed their own association, the Jesuit Secondary Educational Association (JSEA) which in 2015 became the Jesuit Schools Network with high schools and middle schools in Canada and the United States.

The JSN interviewed eight people who have contributed to and been impacted by our work in Jesuit education over this half century.

Sacred Heart Nativity Schools Sets Regular Curriculum Aside on Election Day 2020 for Social Teaching and Self Care
On November 3, 2020 Sacred Heart Nativity Schools put hybrid and distance learning classes on pause to come together as a community to pray, learn, practice self-care, and dream of an equitable future for our students and our community. Election day four years ago put a lot of worry and uncertainty on Sacred Heart Nativity students and their families, many of whom are undocumented or are in mixed status families. Entering into the Election season, Sacred Heart faculty and staff sought to empower students with information and tools to navigate stress and anxiety, a proactive course instead of reactionary to the results.

Students began the morning of Election Day in prayer, centering ourselves in values of Catholic Social Teaching. Students then learned about the importance of government from the city level to the national level and how citizens can reach out to representatives to enact change. Teachers hosted a variety of breakout options from learning about the Electoral College to Voter Suppression to the 100 year anniversary of Women's right to vote. The morning ended with a read aloud, “Your Vote Counts,” read by Principal Lorraine Shepherd. After lunch, the community pivoted to focus on mental health and self care, practicing yoga together and dreaming as homerooms about what each student would do if they were elected to be President of the United States.

The Jesuit Schools Network promotes the educational ministry of the Society of Jesus in service to the Catholic Church by strengthening Jesuit schools for the mission of Jesus Christ.
